Shithead executive in the US decides that the fastest way to save money is outsource within one month (greed). Hires or designates a bigger shithead to start the outsourcing process quickly.

Bigger shithead decides he needs to outsource 400+ jobs to India. Bigger shithead conducts a few interviews in India and hires clueless shithead to get it all together in a month.

Clueless shithead hires more shitheads who in turn hire more shitheads. So one month later you have 400 clueless employees who don't have skill sets which match the job.

4 months later all shitheads realise that the shit has hit the fan and they are suddenly way behind schedule.

Then people complain about the quality of work from India. Hell, you hire the wrong people, you wont get quality anywhere.

  2. What about my freedom? on Open Wi-Fi May Become Illegal In India · · Score: 1

which I will loose once a terrorist uses my open wifi to send a terror email.

Take the case of an American citizen Ken Haywood who literally high tailed it out of India with just his family and a few personal possessions when the police discovered that his ISP connection was used to send a terror email related to the recent bomb blasts here. It was later determined that his open wifi connection was used for this purpose. But he suffered nonetheless, he was questioned, had to undergo a lie detector test etc... He got away lightly because he was an American.

Indian citizens would be immediately arrested for the same mistake.

I believe in sharing and freedom of speech. However, when my own freedom is threatened because of an insecure network, I am not going to wait for the government to pass a law to start using WPA2.

People who dont understand this have not experienced Indian police stations.

  3. Be sure before you change on Disillusioned With IT? · · Score: 1

I've been in the IT industry for almost 15 years now. About two years ago I hit the same rut you are going through right now. The same disillusionment etc...
Last year I changed my stream and went into management. What did I find? The same disillusionment hit me in 3 months instead of 12 years. This job change was a huge mistake. It cost me in terms of finance and family. I have learnt the hard way that you are going to feel disillusionment no matter what you are doing.
I remember talking to some scientists at a nuclear research center way back in 1994. They were doing great stuff. But all of these scientists and I do mean all the scientists I spoke to advised me to stay away from their field. No prizes for guessing that they were disillusioned.
I saw the same thing across a variety of careers, no matter how exciting they appeared to be. Pilots, river rafting guides, rally car drivers, research scientists etc... have advised me to stay away. And now belatedly I understand why.
The key here would be to recognize this as a part of every career. But this should not stop you from changing careers to grow.
I did learn a lot from this experience and am thankful. I do plan to continue with this change in career. But am doing it in a much more structured way.

My advice. Change is good. You should change your stream. BUT, stick to what you have been doing till you are VERY SURE of what you want to do next.

There is a lot of good advice by a lot of people on this page. It will save you a lot of time.

To be honest it does sound a bit lame as well in addition to being selfish.

You are right about the part about the opportunity to say "let me help ...."

But lets be specific to this case. "cleanly"? this car gives 58 mpg. how much cleaner do you want it to be??? most cars there give what 15-20mpg?

I think we should be the ones saying "Let me help...."

Personally I would be happy with improvements in mass transport here. People in this forum who have been to India have pointed out the bad traffic, the pollution etc... I dont blame them. But what they cannot see in their short visits is that the majority of India population is obsessed with recycling. ( Hell! In the villages we even recyle cow shit) Nothing gets thrown away. Every house has fluorescent lights. Most people travel by public transport. Cars which are fuel efficient outsell other models by huge margins. The public transport buses in the capital Delhi run exclusively on CNG. India is also one of the world's largest consumers of solar energy.

We still have Industrial pollution which we need to fix. Not to mention education of people concerning environmental issues. Theres a lot to do....

Your responsibility? Tell your fellow citizens their backyards in a bigger mess.

Help? Send us all the help you can. Thanks in advance.

Though I share your concern about the environment I must say that western countries particularly the USA have no moral standing to highlight energy consumption in countries like India, China etc... I dont want to turn this into a mud sling match however , I feel people should be aware of the facts. I do feel a sense of dread when I think about so many people turning to less efficient mode of transport and the effect it will have on the environment. I am sure with tighter controls on other pollutants in the country we might be able to save some semblance of an environment. Lets see the facts. per capita consumption of energy in oil equivalents (kg/year) 2003 - USA - 7,844.1 India - 512.4. Difference ratio - 15.31 (reference: http://earthtrends.wri.org/text/energy-resources/variable-351.html ) population USA - 301139947 , India - 1129866154 (reference: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook ) 7844.1 * 301139947 = 2362171858262.7 and 512.4 * 1129866154 = 578943417309.6 and 2362171858262.7/578943417309.6 = 4.08 Simple Math tells us that even with India's huge population the USA consumes 4 times more energy than India. Therefore it sounds a bit lame when people in America express concern about a few people in India get some small cars while they themselves ride around in gas guzzling SUVs. While the concern about cars is still understandable the concern expressed by certain countries regarding the provision of electricity in more villages in India is downright ridiculous. People in these villages dont even have light bulbs. I admit we are a backward country with very bad traffic and other bad things. But HEY! we still consume less energy than YOU.
