What the hell are you talking about? The US CO2 emissions have gone down, but Germany's hasn't. It has gone up as it uses more coal. It also buys electricity from neighbors. It is like you guys are in a reality distortion field. You don't need to believe me: it is all readily available on the Internet.
I think tech people get into some sort of bubble where they think because they can change software quickly, the rest of the world can change what it is doing quickly too. It doesn't work that way. NG will be a big part of energy production for many decades to come.

NG production has been steadily increasing for decades and it expected to increase for decades. This is nothing new.
