What hacker is targeting WinRar and 7zip exploits? Hackers have much bigger things to exploit. There are a lot of CVE's filed but you would have to open a trojan file to get exploited.
I wonder if there is a way to still block ads based on somehow modifying your host files? Does anyone make software like that, that will let us manage our host files?
If you take down the endpoints (AWS) you can't reach the endpoints. The internet was designed to ROUTE around damage to the network, not the endpoints. The Internet doesn't depend on Amazon, or AWS.

Why not ask for a raise? Go ask an experienced plumber what HE thinks of his job. If you actually talk to plumbers you might get a different story.
