  1. I find the term "Latin America" offensive. We don't even speak Latin here. I'm off to my Safe Space!

Agreed. What he SHOULD have said was "Diversity is important to us here at Apple. We will look into the issues you brought up as soon as possible."

  3. I don't like to use the word "Hispanic". That is a trigger word that enables all sorts of microaggressive behavior. I am rather offended you used that word.

  4. You forgot to mention that due to the enablement of microaggressive behavior the cisgender white males in IT are enabled to exclude others. This triggering behavior shouldn't be tolerated in 2016. By introducing the concepts of hug boxes and safe spaces in IT we can make it more inclusive and even more profitable for everyone!

You are right. Why rush things? We have been launching things into LEO with chemical rockets for about 60 years now. We still have a lot to learn about it. It might take another 60 to make it reliable enough to launch people reliably. Who knows at this point?

If it is more reliable than any alternative it is a HUGE improvement. Size and thrust isn't everything. Trust me!

  10. Don't be so negative. 2050 is probably more realistic to have a semi-permanent base on the moon. Assuming the economy hasn't completely collapsed by then.

Exactly. There is no harm in having multiple competing designs. It is preferable actually. As long as everyone is honest about expectations.

  12. If you mean Mars, Pennsylvania you are right. How would SpaceX build a HQ on Mars in 10 years?

  13. No, they should work in parallel. That way the best design wins, or at least there is an alternative. It is a win-win.

  14. This is a more realistic goal: a reusable orbital rocket to be launched around 10 years from now.

You are dumb. The only reason there isn't someone beating you over the head right now and stealing your laptop is because there is a non-negligible chance that they might actually get caught by the police. Your local police need to take a day off. You will find out how much your "life matters".

  17. That is essentially how people in the IT/software industry think. It is easy to change strategy and approach with software. You just change the code. However that doesn't fly in other fields. You can't just say "shit well they died so lets try again with version 2.1 beta and see if it kills fewer people." Well actually I guess you CAN say that.

They are still trying to answer the question "Did Mars have the capability to support life?" which is a good goal too, but after the nth mission people are going to get tired of that, especially since they haven't answered that question yet. My guess is that Mars never supported life either, but based on what we know so far you can't tell.

This is true for some software, but not all. Not all types of software are equal. Games take a lot of money and people to produce. It is unlikely that "free" software will succeed in that area. However for IMPORTANT software, the GPL works because there is some funding available. There is one saving grace here: digital computers are not going to improve at the same rate they have in the past. The AAA titles you play now will be very similar to the ones you play 10 years from now, simply because processor speed isn't increasing at a high rate.
