This doesn't surprise me much, those minimum requirements usually don't mean a thing. You can run the game with those specs with all GFX details at a minimum, but that's about it.
You probably need to have at least 2 gigs of RAM, a 3.4GHz CPU and one of those new Nvideo or ATI GFX cards to play the game as it is meant to be.
