I don't know if it was intentional but the same page showed all services working normally all day yesterday and today until an hour ago. Unfortunately for Comcast Cable Modem customers their net was down (at least in the Vancouver Washington and Portland Oregon areas) which they finally admitted on the telephone.
Thanks for your post. It sums up what the difficult truth is. I maintain 5 machines, 4 XP and one RH Linux. It's not my job, I don't get paid for it, but there is no one else to do it. I run firewalls. I escaped but could easily have got it. I can't imagine hundreds of Windows servers. That would suck.
Could you provide a pointer to the MySQL case, or an explanation. I noticed their license is not a normal GPL.

So does Zone Alarm prevent infection with this virus?
