  1. Re:Dumbing down of the news on New Antiviral May Cure Common Cold · · Score: 1

Far more interesting in the article (IMHO) was the graph purporting to showing "median tissue usage"(?), comparing the new drug and the placebo.
I noticed that apart from the second day that the placebo takers only seemed to use one or two more tissues a day...
So, either the graph says something about the lifespan of a cold virus or once again demonstrates the wonderous powers of the mind, working through a placebo :)

    I agree with you totally.
Mir makes a great starting point in orbit especially in light of the delays in getting the ISS anywhere near space.
If somebody is ready to pony up the money to keep Mir going round and round then that's a great thing! Who knows where the future occupants of the ISS might need a home away from home?

    I have a suggestion...

Perhaps, everybody who disagrees with Amazon's software patent and has commented to Slashdot might also try emailing their thoughts on the subject to Amazon (and any media organisations they feel might benefit from there viewpoint).

    Personally, I think it's a great thing.

I'm really kinda surprised that this is one of the first comments that I've seen linking Linux to either communism or socialism.

Until now, I haven't really seen any public comments regarding the fact that the various Open Source projects are basically anarcho-socialist in nature.

As a "intellectual-indivdual anarchist", I'm really pleased to see some modern, real-life, practical experiments in anarchy. Particularly, when they seem to be suceeding so well! I can't wait for final Mozilla release.

Long live freedom and down with the State (in whatever form it takes).

I vote the next bird to be bought back is the giant Moa. I want a bird I can look up to and really respect :)

  8. Re:There is a still a major problem of cloning... on Cloning of extinct Huia bird approved · · Score: 1

If the extinction of the Huia doesn't present a problem to you then, I'd like to know exactly when "man-induced" extinctions do become a problem? Is it when the last bald-eagle is wiped out? Or, when the last whale is hunted to extinction? Or, perhaps it's when the only living mamals, apart from us, left are domesticated species?

I for one, enjoy a walk through a national park now and then (together with all the associated flora and fauna).

Forgive the attitude, I'm a New Zealander and I'd like to see the recovery of a few more of the endangered and "previously extinct" birds of New Zealand (particularly the giant Moa!).

Course, I could be wrong - it's happened before.

Personally, I don't mind if they read YOUR communications (as you obviously have no objection to that sort of thing). I just don't care for the government (or anybody else for that matter) monitoring my communications.
