Did anyone ever play that? It was a really simple, really fun, multiplayer game (the 20-50 people that played each game is massive enough for me). Basically you picked one vehicle from C&C, and your job was to destroy everyone else in that particular game (oh yeah, and collect power-ups to help you). The games were really short, and I think the only drawback of it was that back then very few people wanted to pay for a game that you could only play on the internet, and games like that require a lot of players to be on at once. Funny enough it sounds almost like a multiplayer version of the snowball game in the column. And before you say this is off-topic, the story was talking about MMOGs, not just MMORPGs.
Would you give your girlfriend cash for her birthday?
Cash is good if you can't think of anything better, but a personalized gift is the best. For only 5 employees you should be able to find a gift that they will want to keep with them for years. Also most techies like new toys, so brand new computers or extra monitors would not only make them more productive, but also make them really happy. Just don't mention that you spent potential bonus money on the new equipment. Buying your wife a new vacuum cleaner for her birthday is a bad idea, but if she vacuums a lot buying one (notice, not "buy her one", just "buying one") on some random day might make her feel appreciated.
I just don't understand this. Why give a 5% christmas bonus instead of just raising the salary by 5%? If one year you didn't get that bonus I bet you'd be pissed, and I for one wouldn't give more loyalty to a company that gave me a 5% bonus verse a company that just added that 5% to my salary.
Can someone explain to me the benifits of a bonus over an increase in pay? Am I missing something?
I don't know if it's just me, but I found some of the data on my DVD-Rs is not longer accessable. How often do you check the DVDs and CDs to make sure that you can still read the data? Did you ever do research to show that the media you bought will last for as long as you need the backup?
The problem with this idea is that if I want to hurt a company, such as Disney, all I need to do is SPAM people with ads that look like they are from Disney. I'm sure that you can see the problem with that.
Another interesting point of fact, (at least in New York state) the flashing red lights give NO legal rights to disobey the speed limit. This is something I allways try and keep in mind, because you do kind of feel invincible when you are driving those big red trucks.
Where did you get that information? It would be very useful for me in an upcoming campus hearing.
Some people would say that "most of History's greatest" music is also available for free. I for one prefer modern music over Bach, but the classics are free.
Ie, Apple produced a 64-bit computer that was marketed towards the general public more so than previous 64-bit computers. This is not the same as producing the first 64-bit computer - that suggests a technical feat, independant of marketing.
Why would Apple's marketing campaign suggest anything other then marketing to you? Every technical feat that comes with a press release has marketing involved. We should all know this by now.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only guy that this happens to...and I'm also glad to know that others think it's ok for me to think both of them are out of line...
If you have an executable program that's really a honey-token (example: have passwd be a program that logs the execution and then calls the original passwd (ok, that's a bad example, but there must be a program that many hackers run on remote systems)), is that still considered a trojan? If so, I can see a net admin using something like that to detect if people are attempting to hack the system.
Even though I know that new hacks will come out, I am really glad that Blizzard is doing something about this. They seem to be responding to this previous article on online gaming.
He's reading /. and is therefore probably a computer geek.
What makes you think he goes to sleep before 2am?
What do people who have no set schedule do?

I'm just amused that this person posted as an AC...and as far as we know has no number yet.

Yeah, but get good ones, otherwise you'll lose a lot of man hours when your employees are dealing with their STDs.

Why does the government need to keep unedited records of speeches? If we want unedited records, can't we do record the speeches ourselves?
With everyone paying attention to the pages listed in robots.txt, maybe they won't see the true secrets hidden in plain sight...

I have no reason. In fact I'm really bad with grammar, but I felt the need to tell everyone else they are wrong :)
I'm glad to know I'm not the only guy that this happens to...and I'm also glad to know that others think it's ok for me to think both of them are out of line...
Yeah, but for people that understand the joke, listening to someone explain it is REALLY funny :)

My roommate has a USB Homer Simpson.
I give it a week.
