For me, the first time i played a game over a network (ipx over 10Base2) with a couple of friends was probably the greatest gaming experience i had. Plaing against human beings (or with) just rocks.
Also high on the list:
Ultima 6 was the first game i was addicted to. Dungeon Master (Amiga) was the first game that scared the hell out of me. And the game that scared me in the last years was System Shock 2.
Is is just me, or does the article not really explain what it is they are talking about.
Also, a drawing of the setup would have been nice.
Third, how do they get from spinning metal thingies to quantum spin? Sounds strange...

You cant really compare that - Xrefactory isn't even free-as-in-beer.
XEmacs sure is nice, but neither its code completion support (filling in whole method names while you type) nor its support for refactoring come anywhere near Eclipse. And don't let me get started about "Quick Fix".
Actually i would be delighted if anyone could show i'm wrong and tell me how to do it - XEmacs really has a steep learning curve (imho).

And still it is more expensive to make calls then elswhere, especially mobile phones.
When it comes to access to the internet, i get wet eyes thinking about how cheap a decent connection to the 'net is elswhere. In Germany:
No cable modems, per-minute cost and ADSL only in mayor cities (even slow with 786kbit/s, expensive too) :-((
Nearly impossible to get a static IP.
