  1. Killing Iraqi children is real, not a cartoon :( on UK Proposes Banning Computer Generated Abuse · · Score: 1

    Is it just me or does anyone else think it sad that a Ministry of 'Justice' would potentially ban drawings and cartoons, while ignoring the fact that their country (the U.K) participated in the Iraq war which has indirectly not abused but actually killed thousands (or more) iraqi children?

    My country (USA) also is responsible for this and I consider the people who started this war far guiltier than any child molestors.

    Their day is coming and they will be punished, so help us God.

    Good comment. I would cut right to the chase and say that engaging in torture *makes* one a terrorist.
    Because you are deliberately using pain and the *fear* of pain to get someone to do something.

    PAIN = FEAR
    TORTURE = TERROR

    When we become the evil we seek to stop, we destroy ourselves.

    I think you are absolutely right. I have been running Win2000 and for my money it's the best thing MS ever did.
    It is stable, simple, and just plain works.

    I have considered upgrading to XP, but why would I want to say "OK" to basically some eye-candy, more $$$$ for functionality I already have and having to ask Microsoft for permission to run my OS that I already paid my $$$$ for???

    So in my view, yes, maybe WinXP is 5% or 10% better than Win2000, but I have to give up too much to use it. I'm sticking with my Win2000 until Microsoft sees the error of it's ways. Up until Win2000 they spent most of their energy on improving the operating system, after Win2000 they have spent most of their energy trying to squeeze more $$$ out of existing customers.

    Wake up MS!

  4. Re:Sensationalist Headline on Airlines Have to Ask Permission to Fly 72 Hours Early · · Score: 3, Interesting

    Though I agree that the headline is somewhat sensationalist, I think we all have to keep in mind that the root of the problem lies in the fact that TSA is trying to make a stupid process more efficient. (Instead of say... eliminating the stupidity altogether.)

    Let's review some basic ideas:

    1) Knowing who people are doesn't (by itself) prevent terrorism at all.
    2) Even if it could, IDs could still be forged.
    3) Even if IDs couldn't be easily forged, this would still be a violation of the rights of American citizens. By this I mean that, the government has no innate right to stop you from traveling UNLESS and UNTIL they can charge you with something specific.

    The main concern I have is that in trying to make things "easier", the TSA/DHS/Fed. Government is generally are simply breaking all the limits and chains that are placed on them for good and sound reasons. Things should NOT be easy for the listed organizations. They should require work and effort. This is the only way to ensure that they will actually do their job instead of just creating a big list and adding people's names to it.

    In other words, imagine the lists of lists we might have in the future in current trends continue:
    + No-fly List
    + No-drive list
    + No-shop list
    + No-protest list
    + No-publishing list
    + No-(Insert your activity-here) list

    I don't want to live in that country. How about you?
