The creation of a truly sentient AI will require much more than the steady march of Moore's Law. The emulation of neural nets is not something that modern computers are good at; in fact, they are truly horrendous at it. Seeing as that the only blueprint for intelligence we have is contained in the human brain, barring any sudden advance in the area of AI, any AI created that is capable of passing a Turing Test will be an emulation of human intelligence.
Just my.02 on the matter of imminent AI.
