Bryce Harrington of the Inkscape team is definetly number one in my book. He displays amazing skill at both improving and managing the development of inkscape. And the Inkscape team, Open Clipart Library and many other projects would be lost without him. Also Mentalguy and Bulia from the Inkscape team are both dedicated, talented and definitely heros of opensource

/me puts graphic designer hat on

Inkscape, GIMP and Scribus are a lethal combination.

In the past two months ive produced all my Press-ready PDF's in Scribus thanks to imported artwork from inkscape and some content from gimp.

Being able to have these tools on as many computers as you like is an awesome inclusion. Now I can work from home, from work, from Uni even my grandparents place to get a project finished on time. And when it comes to publishing .. Scribus is always is the final touch.

my advice for anyone who questions the features in scribus ..

submit an rfe ... in 99% of cases it will get done within the week. In my experience every bug and rfe has been taken care of by the next morning.

Tell me a software vendor that does that for you ?

honestly . if you are presented with a new technology. and care nothing about who made it . you will play with it and most probably use it if its easier.. thats the awful truth.

as a long time flash user. i realised that by using flash was only helping macromedia ( at that point they were trying to be bought out by ms )

Since then my bet has been on SVG

But i'm afraid svg isnt off the ground enough to be considered an alternative. and microsofts little gadgets might yet impress the home users of longhorn.

im guessing the powerpoint at the time will embed this format in all its tricky animations .
