  3. Uhhh....Missing Something? on China to Top U.S. in Broadband Subscribers · · Score: 2, Interesting

I think the more important aspect of there being more Chinese with broadband than Americans has a lot less to do with what Chinese citizens can find on Google. Broadband is a catalyst for business and information services. It's even a catalyst for change in culture. Look at the other asian countries that have spent millions on broadband spending. If South Korean teens consider online gaming to be as everyday as more 'conventional' sports like soccer, how much will making computers and the internet a common understanding change the way they do business? The last thing I want to see is the US falling behind in IT growth in areas like broadband.

Too bad it already is. What the hell is the FCC thinking?

Wow, that is the most rediculous question Ive ever heard. Three months after the creation of the home pc, how many people had one on their desktops? How many people cared? Just because an immediate personal revolution is inevident to some in a fraction of the time necessary to create one is no reason for anyone to say that there never will be a revolution. Come on people, can't you imagine the incredible things that are to come from this, whether directly or not. This IS going to be one of the steps that lead us into a whole new world of advancement, creation, and insight. Don't discount a modern marvel just because it didn't immediately give you a new toy.

wrong. The parrallel lines appear to intersect by your point of reference, but if your point of reference were the same as the space that the lines were within then they would not appear so. Remember that everything is relative to the point by which it is measured by. The lines never intersect, the space between them and the space they lie in just gets warped.

  6. Wow. What an idea. on Transmeta Awarded Another Patent · · Score: 1

Let's see what facts we have to deal with here:

-linus torvalds works for Transmeta. He says what he does has a lot to do with the future of linux.
-a processor that can translate other processor languages and code into its own and run them much faster than the others can process their own code alone
    -the very future of linux
-one very on the edge head of the pack company
    -a great deal of secrecy
    So here's my point:
Wouldn't the perfect compilation of all of these facts be the invention of a processor that when combined with a highly specialixed operating system (the future of Linux) can run the programs of any operating system made for any processing lanuage faster than we've ever seen before? As in running mac apps, win apps, sun apps, even palm os apps and everything else imaginable all from linux faster than ever believed. Wow. I hope that's what's in store for us. And its even supposed to cost less!
