...SIGH.....
Young man (or person), you need to learn your american history.
You'll never get ahead in life withou knowing your 80's trivia!
But, I have furnished you with a sacred text, from which you may commence your lernin' at your leasure.
http://www.afn.org/~afn30091/songs/v/violent-blist er.htm
Cut copy and paste, don't worry, I don't send people to goatse or tubgirl unless they are moronic enough to beleive the FUD put out by the "Heritage foundation."
Oil peaking is no lie. But I sense a misunderstanding. By "profitable" i mean a net "energy" gain, not a "monetary gain", this is the language of oil prospecting. Oil in the us,(as reflected as an median of the whole) has already "peaked" in the years 1979-1980. There are some oil fields that are still viable, but many are fallow, and are only used as adjunct to the strategic oil reserve. The pumps used in those fields derive their energy from the grid, and not from exhaust gas. Even after the peak, oil will still be a "fuel" but not an energy "source". The energy used in pumping, drilling, proscpecting, and transporting will have to be even more heavily subsidized.
Truly. You are a gentleman and a scholar. Perhaps I'll work another lyric from Blister in the sun on a discussion about solar power. Then again, you might beat me too it......
With automatic winding added, I wouldn't even mind a little knob for manual winding. I'm going to have to google to see if anyone has plans for a self powered PDA. You are a rare slashdotter, you seem to knwo what you are talking about.
Take care
You've got to be kidding me. you are linking to the heartland institute? Why not link to something mroe reasonable like tubgirl.com, she produces less shit than them!
It is not a matter of running out anyway. We are consuming faster than we can produce. The opther matter is the pollution. Even if you may or may not believe in global warming, you at least believe in lung disease? Well, children are not supposed to have lung problems in record amounts.
Don't bother, just send the stuff you are not using over the horizon. Transmission losses are very low, even over long distances. Already, a sort of internet protocol is beign developed, and within 10 years, the whole world may have an "electrical power internet" in which intellegent routing stations reroute power to meet supply and demand efficiently. Of course, you need lots of fiber obtics for the transmission of usage data, and the occational superconducting "backbone", but there is nothing like buying cheap canadian hydro, and then selling the chinese wisconson wind.
Bird windwill deaths are real, but extremely overrated. The bird deaths in california were landing and resting on support wires for a certain type of windmill (which is obsolete anyway, most don't use support wires in the airframe). The windfarm in question was in a migration path of a particular species, and only affected local predater hawks because they were preying on the resting, tired, fat, birds. Until the obsolete windmills were replaced. a simple sollution was worked out, in which the windfarm was shutdown during a few weeks in the fall for migration of the food. Oddly enough, the few hawk deaths were worth it for the hawks, who found the resting birds to be plentiful and Yummy. Still, windmill caused bird deaths are a fraction of a fraction of the bird deaths caused by 1.) big clear glass windows, 2) Pollution, 3) Automobiles, 4) Powerlines and transformers, 6) air pollution (yes tweety gets lung illness too) 6) invasive species, and 7) Cheney and Scalia on duck huntin' trips. And 8) 8? I forgot what 8 is for......
ooooh, me likey!! Why not both? Solar panels are very thin and can be hidden within the screen glass. An inertial powersource could either be a rotating one (lots of relative space, or a "tube" design (less effecient, but able to be crammed anywhere)
I wonder if a rotating inertial powersource could be built into a Cf card?
Batteries don't leach into the ground like MBTE. If an electric car with a lead acid battery were to go into a lake, it would pollute less than a gallon of gas with MBTE. Keep in mind most advanced batteris are made out of Nickel Metal Hydride. Nickel is non toxic, or you should be scared of money. Metal Hydride is an Alloy of iron.
Other battery technology, such as lithium ion is more reactive, but still less toxic than gasolene, methanol, nitro or, MethleButleTetraEthanol(MBTE).
a lot of "plastic wood" is a mixture of wood scraps, and resin, but much is actually made up of recycled lumber and recycled plastic. Some is the same thermoplastic in soda bottles, not a problem unless you plan on building your deck in death valley.
I use OO with blackbord. No problem. you might be havign a problem with blackboard opening documets in-window. You don't want to do this, even if you were using MS. simply open them in a new window.
as for powerpoint. OO does powerpoint without any headaches. Sure the interface is a little different, but the file works.
sell the car, but lease the batteries.
It helps if you design a car that can work with different types of battery chemistry.
right now, the cheapest is Lead-Acid. With mass production, lithium batteries are actually cheaper to make, but for now, they are expensive because of small batch production. (i'm talking about large cells you trolls, not the little thing in your nokia n-gage)
a solution would be to sell the car, but lease the battery pack. When the pack is expired, it goes back for re-manufacturing, which is cheaper than new assembly.
Maybe, I don't know, but I think that you are thinking about a very different type of porn. My wife, and in fact, every woman I've ever been sexual with, likes to watch porn. What you are describing is not good porn. It's a circus act. Good porn gets you horny, and gets her horny.
The trick to watching porn with a spouse, or any sexual partner, is to keep track of the mood level.
(don't worry kids, if I can do it, so can you)
Keep the remote handy, and fastforward through all the parts that are boring. Yes, even some of the sex parts can be boring.
The plots are always bad for a reason, you DONT want to be engrossed in the plot. You want to be prepared for the "window" of oppourtunity. Then turn off the TV kid, and get to "work".
One last tip. Put on a nice CD or a mix in iTunes. but leave it muted. If the movie music is annoying mandolin music, then you mute the TV and unmute the musicbox. If the whole movie sucks, but you like the visuals, put the TV-o-porn on in the background, and talk.
Porn, is a foreplay powertool.
you will need acrobat reader. But check the archives of the websight www.ucsusa.org
The UCS has occationally slammed Clinton on things such as NMD (which he later changed his mind on), Anti-Biotics in feed, and Loose Nukes. There is much much more. You can run a search in the archives. The big big big reports (but with all the fun numbers) sometimes require a subscription to a scientific publishing service. Actually, they may have done away with that.
Not to defend gore, but I am wondering what you are refering too?
I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this. I don't know what data you are using, but I feel you are very very incorrect. Climate change is very real, we know that. Man-made climate change IS happening. Global warming is a theory, yes. But based off of very tested models for climate change. The only way to prove it enough to satisfy everyone, is to actually screw up the earth, and then a few times more for peer review. I for one, would rather take the more cautios approach, and ask fat suburbanites to drive a little less. We'll all be better off for it.
Right and Wrong
Anyone, not even scientist can join the UCS, but unless you are a scientist, you won't be doign scince. As for meritocracy? hmmm, B.s. M.s. PHD. oh yeah, they already have one! It's called a civilized academic society it's why in the U.S. you will be sued for falsly calling yourself a doctor and practicing medicine.
BTW. These "members" may have better credentials than you do. (If you have a Nobel prise I will eat a printout of this remark)
I agree with you though, that PETA is annoying. PETA serves only to get hot chicks to become aware of sociaol problems. Eventually some grow up and date scientists

Airplanes also go over peoples heads.

I've always wanted solar power on a pda. The battery requirements would be a little mroe forgiving. Oh, and the ability to firstpost!
you mean like "whale of a cop"? http://www.finemanfilms.com/independent/ind_stills .html

Just remember: everyone's different. Not everyone shares your particular problems with sex. WOW. I should make that my bew SIG!
I'll drink to that. But a better trick is marrying someone who enjoys MAKEING porn with you.

Never claimed I was. I'm just an intern.

You have it half right. The UCS is not Junk science. Their not fringe either, they are very very mainstream.
Right and Wrong Anyone, not even scientist can join the UCS, but unless you are a scientist, you won't be doign scince. As for meritocracy? hmmm, B.s. M.s. PHD. oh yeah, they already have one!
