Exactly... UAC in windows hasn't added much in the way of actual protection... the only time I get the warnings is when I want to run something.. and doing development work, it gets worse at times... I love how GP felt that I was simply a neophyte with computers because I expected to not have to press a magic button, or change the defaults to get stuff to run. I wasn't running code from some random location on the internet.. I was running stuff I specifically went out and downloaded. Mono, Pinta, Node.js, SublimeText2, etc...
First, I don't buy locked down hardware... and second, my existing MBP will run linux just fine, it's simply a point where I would stop running OSX. I could see the next release of OSX being locked in for existing hardware...
Mainly I wanted to send a message that it is time for a change... You can't do that while voting for the major two parties... It isn't that I felt that the D or R candidates were particularly poor choices, only that it takes about 15% of a population to create a movement that gains notice. I feel at the more local levels, very little is gained from voting libertarian, aside from a very conservative fiscal policy and a very liberal interpretation of civil rights/liberties.
Personally, I think we should simply close, and pull out of the majority of our overseas bases, including any active combat theaters... That's just me though...
Have you read the Articles of Confederation... there wasn't a "Bill of Rights" but most of what is in the bill of rights were provisions directly in the Articles... Beyond this, I'm not sure you quite understand all of what the civil war brought.. beyond either one or another illegal amendment to the constitution... After all, New Hampshire and Vermont had considered leaving the union as well, not to join the southern states either. I'm not pro slavery, or racist... But I do know a bit more about the pre civil war history in this country.
I'm curious which portion of the first 10 amendments to the constitution weren't being enforced prior to the civil war?
Good god.. if more people like you actually voted for someone different, the suits in political office would actually take notice. Third parties don't have to *win* to be heard... you approach 15% of the vote, and that carries a ton of weight.. even if you lose.
I don't find either Romney or Obama particularly honest or genuine... Obama has pretty much dropped the ball on all of the campaign promises he made.. and you can't trust Romney to follow through on anything.
Yes.. help the veterans... kill our enemies.. the bombings will continue... I mean what could go wrong with systematic bombings in foreign nations.. It's not like England is still carrying a grudge 7 decades later or anything...

I have very little aside from disdain for the current (R) and (D) candidates... I don't think either one of them would do anything but strip more personal freedoms and civil liberties in either rubber stamping almost everything that seems to come from congress, or via executive order that simply ignores the law.

Given the defaults on Mountain Lion, I absolutely expect this... And it'll be the day my MBP is running Linux... I really hated my initial experience with Mountain Lion... half the software I wanted to install was pointing to the version in the Mac Store... not a separate download... and the other half I had to change the defaults to install... not friendly at all, but where things seem to be headed... the sandbox model is fine for most apps/user, but not for me or the apps I use.
You can generally find these at home depot, and other home improvement stores... The ties do attach to velcro on the back/underside of a desk if you buy the sticky backed bulk stuff for that purpose.
+1 for velcro cable ties... I will also put a couple strips of vecro on the underside and back of my desk.. once you've got the cable wrapped, it just sits against the desk out of the way... works great... same for the back of my entertainment center.. also, my surge strips are often velcroed to the inside/back of the desk, so that they are closer to the devices... much less clutter. usually have one trunk of cables coming up from my tower as the only visible from the front.
I actually really like webos.. I think a few minor issues with the browser being updated could have taken it a long way... I gave up on it when I heard the open webos wouldn't include support for the touchpads... shame, it was decent hardware... all running android now.
IIRC, HP Pays MS to develop the core drivers for a lot of their products.. HP does the value add stuff like worthless image editors that are worse than picasa or paint.net.
I was pretty sure it did... for that matter, was pretty sure it was the core of cross platform compatibility for applications between RT and x86 at this point.
It's actually kind of irksome... my phone wouldn't really be as usable without the card.. but with 10gb open on my N7 don't miss it too much... I wish that they didn't charge such a premium on devices with 32gb out of the box...
Hell, most people around here probably don't even know that the 5.25" drive slot we have today are actually half height... my first computer was an XT with an MFM hard drive so slow it actually ran faster double-spaced.
I think more and more, apps are starting to use configuration files under the user's profile... though installers and windows itself seems to love the registry.

Hmm... my android phone seems to have a number of apps installed on the SD card... weird. Not all apps have this option though.
