A code rewrite would make it much more slashdot worthy though, don't you think? "Here's where I compiled this here thingy to do that there thingar and that's what it done did..." It also makes it cooler if it's done in George Bush (like i done gone and did)

It's a scary thought. The only thing I can see happening is another patriot act even MORE towards total freedom for the feds. Maybe mandatory phone taps and the like? I mean - guy is in the CIA, we know how the CIA is don't we, Mr. Bush Sr, who's son is our president for another 4 years? Maybe more of our tax dollars will go towards increasing the excuse for a national debt and none of us can have any privacy or freedom by 2010.

Couldn't IT workers unionize and try to force certain things to have job security?

Then again, I guess that would destroy the idea of technological advancement.

In the words of my mother - "You can't really plan for a baby - whenever you plan you can't get pregnant - one day you just wake up and you're pregnant." BTW, My mom was 19 when she had my brother and was a single mother of my sister and I, My brother got married when he was 21 and had his first child at the age of 22 - So my mother was 42 when she became a grandmother - What's wrong with that? My mother is also one of the smartest people I know and worked as a teacher until she was forced to quit working due to heart problems (She's had 2 heart attacks int he past 2 years). Now after 3 kids and grandkids at the age of 44, would you like to keep saying that she's too young to be a grandmother? And my mom is most definitely not a slut, being one of the most moral people under the sun. (This wasn't directed at who I replied to - just those others that are ignorant)

  7. WHOIS Data is a double edged sword. on Congress Eyes Whois Crackdown · · Score: 1

This is a big concern for privacy advocates, but the fact that the RIAA and MPAA want this to happen so they can track down the copyright violators that they so loathe is correct. I personally don't agree with it, seeing if I were to start a personal site I wouldn't want anyone with an ounce of brain about computers to go and get my street address, especially considering that all the work going on it would be of my own.

This could all be bypassed over the whois info though - people can get hosting on servers without getting web address (like geocities does) and host smaller files like music files on a single account. It won't make much of a difference if they're all connected to another free account which is just a big hub.

  8. I find... on Record Labels May Have to Pay Double Royalties · · Score: 1

I find that a lot of people here are lacking to comment on the small record label. I myself run a small record label and I sign local bands who receive 25% of all profits & 25% of the pressing of CDs.

Something that a lot of people don't realize is that USUALLY the larger labels fund tours, pay royalties UP FRONT (Meaning that they will pay a band 3,000,000.000 before they even make their CD) and pay for the recording.

The problem is, what happens when a band sells about 10,000,000 CDS? They feel ripped off, but can't get more than what's in the contract.

Also what I keep hearing whipped around is RIAA this and RIAA that, believe me, labels have a LOT more control over the artists than you think, the RIAA doesn't run the labels, so if anyone is to blame for holding back royalties, it's definitely not the RIAA.

The record labels won't speak up and say "IT's US!" in part because of, well, look how a lot of people here are reacting to them!

  9. Re:If this IS the Mark of the Beast... on Implanted RFID Tag To Replace Cash? · · Score: 1

very accurate, and since Nostradamus also predicts a lot of things that were in the bible, he said it'd happen a lot of times, he also said in the 3rd year would be a start of a great war, and the war we had this year (the third year) only lasted about 2 months (well, officially, it's still going on though) I think people should just see where it goes.

  10. This actually is in the bible on Implanted RFID Tag To Replace Cash? · · Score: 1

Yeah, I'll find the verse and post it here, but it actually is in the bible & Nostradamus predicted it, I'm not looking the stuff up now because it's 4 in the morning and I'm tired, but if I get a chance later I will.

The thing is, the whole 666 thing goes with bar codes, bar codes are assigned certain numbers for each type of good they represent. When the left number, middle number, and right number are all 666 supposedly that'll be the number of the beast, and if you look now, two of those 6s are already in place on certain products

I'm not a hardcore Christian guy, but it is kind of erie how close to truth the bible is becoming, and how close Nostradamus' predictions are coming together.
