  1. Chimera was an awful name, Minotaur too. on Mozilla Firebird gets .8 Release, and New Name · · Score: 1

If i recall Chimera aren't pleasent things and there always used to suggest pestilence etc in literature. Now that I think of it Minotaur isn't so hot either. He spent all his time trapped in a maze. Do you really want that connotation with a software product?

  2. Thunderbird-featuritus on Mozilla 1.6 Released · · Score: 1

I've been wanting an update of thunderbird for awhile. I was just thinking about it yesterday actually. But, just now I had the thought: "what does thunderbird do for me?" it checks and delivers my email to my desktop. "what more do i need it to do?" "..." Yeah I have all the extensions I need for it, it works flawlessly for me. I just wish they had more themes for it. The current ones aren't that aesthetically pleasing.

  3. Re:Chinese is like America in 1950s on Chinese MagLev Train Opens Next Week · · Score: 1

I don't really believe that at all. People were a lot less in the loop about things in the fifties. Most were ignorant to the deletorious effects certain technologies could have on the planet and the populous. We're just more informed no., I don't think that makes us a load of jaded techno-haters. I mean, even if it means the world is a little less entertaining a place, I'd rather be well informed. China is like America in the fifties only in that there is an opaque relationship between the government and it's citizens. It's not much better now, but I think you average American has a better grasp on the not so shiny aspects of government now tahn back in the 50's. Knowledge is power.

  4. Los Angeles-Palmdale Maglev on Chinese MagLev Train Opens Next Week · · Score: 1

This is very exciting and hopefully will help along the process of getting the Los Angeles-Palmdale Maglev off the ground. (more info here http://la-palmdale.calmaglev.org/default.php?page= 2 ) Personally, I think an LA-Las Vegas train would be much more useful but I guess it could be extended out fi the LA-PLMD proves successful.

You know what? You're exactly right. I did notice that in Lilo and Stitch and loved it, it wasn't exactly the same but almost as pretty. I guess what I like is more stylistic then method. Thanks for pointing that out.

  6. Re:adios 2D on Disney Shuts Down 2D Animation Studio · · Score: 1

Yeah, they'll come back. It's just more luxuriant and lush looking than 3D. It's metal/wood versus plastic. Plastic is the way to go, more flexible and in many ways better suited for most things but sometimes it's ncie to uses something archaic just to appreciate the craftmanship that went into it... or for the gimmick. Who knows, maybe Disney will make another 2D feature just for old times sake. They could market it to Jungle Book lovers like me.

  7. adios 2D on Disney Shuts Down 2D Animation Studio · · Score: 4, Interesting

It's kind of sad. I love watching The disney version of the Jungle Book because the backgrounds are so detailed and lush. There is a certain warmth to 2d animation, at least I think there. Who knows though, maybe I'm just being a technophobic jackass. I say the samething about records as opposed to digital media. There is a certain je ne sais quoi to it, know what I mean?
