what? You get heatsinks with your cpu's? Nice! I buy mine seperately no matter what proc I am using. Silver compound is not special it is normal. Welcome to the land of computers. Regardless of what heatsink you use, you need to use silver compound. Oh yea and a fan might help too. Different fans should blow in different directions when used with specific heatsinks. These are the basics man, if you want I charge $50/hr for training. I would be happy to tell you how to install RAM.

Is that AMD chips burn out 3x faster than Intel chips.

AMD procs run hot but that is why there is such a thing as a heat sink. Many people do not know how to properly use a fan with their heat sink, and many have never heard of silver compound. If you dont cool the AMD proc well you will have problems. So the word is heatsink... say it with me now h-e-a-t-s-i-n-k.

So if some one leaves a computer on the side of the street and you sit down and use it is that against the law. If some one doesnt deny public access to something, then why should the public get in trouble for using it. It's different if someone does deny access to their AP but if they dont then its free game. Here in America if you invite people into your house they dont get arrested for walking in. I am actually part of a sactioned project at my university that involves wardriving boston. It's not illegal if you dont break in.

What is stopping the students on campus from contributing their "CD's" in mp3 form to LAMP? If they could do this and bump up the channels then this would be exactly the same as p2p file sharing, the only difference is that its analog and the "offending" files arent on your computer. These students are doing the exact same thing as all the people the RIAA calls "theifs," only MIT is doing it in analog. Its stealing in digital but it's a PHD thesis in analog. How stupid are these laws?

Well ok... but my contention is that laptops dont have the storage or the heat management that desktops have. I have so many files (200+GB)I spend about an hour a week deciding what I can delete and what I cant live w/o. I see the need for a laptop, but only for making my work portable. What about games? The demands of videogames on proc and GPU are huge. Laptops cant keep up with that. They are fragile, and collect so much dust which cant be cleaned out. I could build a desktop for under $500 that a $1500 laptop wouldnt even come close to eating my tracks, especially if it was mac. Thoes things are way over priced. They dont make laptops that can match mid-level desktops. I figure that you would spend about 10 times more for portability in a laptop.

I have seen many people sporting their new tablets here in boston. I am actually supprised at how they have taken off so quickly. As far as a portable goes I dont think that any portable will ever replace a desktop. When looking for a notebook I look for small and cheap (IBM thinkpad). Most tablets are small, but they weigh a ton. The only differnce between a tablet a thousand years ago and now is that their tablets didnt come with EULA's.

http://www.fuelcells.org/fctypes.htm Gives some good information on fuel cells. Many use reformers to extract the hydrogen. I am familiar with DMFC's which is a form of PEM FC that uses methanol as its fuel. The PAFC is an energy source that actually produces enough heat that can be used in other appliactions. THis is called cogeneration. Suffice to say that there are many types of FC's and many of them are being used right now in power plants and homes across america. Thats another thing. Kill your power and buy a fuel cell. Its more reliable and cheaper in the long run. oh by the way fuel cells work off reverse electrolsis so by the law of conversation of energy you couldnt use electrolsis to get the H2 and still plan on using it as a source of energy. Im in a rush so excuse the sp mistakes.
