As far as the "Macintosh" side of things, only the Carbon runtime libaries were ported over for legacy semi-ported Carbon applications. Native Mac OS X apps are Mach-O binaries and use the (NeXTSTEP "NS") Cocoa library for GUI. There is also a "Classic" virtual machine for running Mac OS 9.2.2.
That's not entirely correct. You can compile Carbon apps to the native Mach-O format as well. Carbon apps can be just as native as Cocoa ones.
It's the opposite for me. DSL isn't available in my area (too far away from the CO). If DSL were available, I'd love it because of the static IP and lower month cost.
I don't know how "random" the numbers are. The article says that some people transfer nearly one terabyte per month. If I transfered one terabyte in a month, I'd be shocked if I wasn't sent a letter. I hardly think the numbers are random.
That makes perfect sense. They are one of the largest (if not largest) broadband provider in the US. Therefore, a lot of spam is likely to come from them.
Constant bombardment by radiation, however, generates unwanted electrical charges inside transistors, building to the point that the transistor, or switch, can no longer control the electron flow
The reason iTunes has DRM is because the "big five" (record companies required it. I doubt Apple could have gotten the same deal without the DRM.
I'm sorta hesitant to even call it DRM. After all, you can listen to it on up to three computers and burn the songs unlimited times (you just have to change the playlist around).
It sort of does. From what I hear, the new version of iDVD lets you export the data to the VIDEO_TS folder (instead of requiring that you burn it from iDVD). You can then burn the VIDEO_TS folder using an external drive and Toast.
I don't think IBM is trying to compete with the IDE. IBM made a somewhat superior compiler to gcc (what Apple currently uses to compile OSX and all their apps).
Even if they made the bills out of a different type of material, it would take a very long time to phase out all of the "old" bills.
Moreover, how long do you think it would take people to understand that the old bills were not good anymore?

I think it's a really great deal. You can buy a refurbished 800 Mhz emac for $529. If you overclock it to 1.33 Ghz, you get an inexpensive mac that should perform pretty well.

What exactly are you doing there?

Yeah, I have that problem too sometimes.
Well target mode isn't a feature of MacOS, it's actually part of the firmware. Any Mac that has firewire built-in, has firewire target mode.

if you found a way to install it it wouldn't run, unless you had a SuperDrive in the same machine.
Are you sure about that? I've used iDVD in a computer that didn't have a superdrive (500mhz G4 Powerbook).

If your cell phone runs out of money, you can't call anymore. But if your EZPass (or whatever) runs out of money, how do they make you pay?
Just to be clear, Sun didn't create JavaScript, Netscape did.
The G5 has that also... I believe it's called slewing.
I just checked in Directory Access (OS X 10.3.1) and NetInfo is unchecked, buy LDAP is not.
Nope, that's incorrect. When you're setting up the server, you specifically have to say that you want it on. It's not on by default.
