Some of those are also Free Software licenses, and some of them aren't.
Nonsense! Every OSI approved license meets the FSF's definition of Free Software. Every one. Every. Single. One. Go read the FSF's definition. It's quite simple, with only four requirements.
Of course, RMS might not have gotten around to stamping his imprimatur on a particular license, but they still meet the definition.
I was thinking of trying out DragonFly, but all these moronic trolls convinced me otherwise. It might be the best thing since sliced bread, but no way am I ever going to associate myself with the assholes promoting it.
Just like the 2.x to 3.x jump, and the 3.x to 4.x jump, you're going to have to do an initial install moving from 4.x to 5.x. Were you expecting any different?
I had that problem in 5.2.1, but it was solved in 5.3. Instead of abandoning an OS you've been running for years at the drop of a hat, why not see about getting that bug fixed? Has it been logged? If not, did you log it? Has it already been fixed in -CURRENT?
If you think DragonFly is going to be God's perfection on Earth, you're nuts.
Solaris is an OS designed for Sun hardware. It doesn't need drivers for Dell Optiplexes. It doesn't need drivers for IBM Thinkpads. It only needs drivers for Sun systems. The x86 version of Solaris is merely a sideline. If all you have is x86 hardware, then Solaris isn't for you.
Why is it the Linux community insists on denigrated every other operating system? It seems to me that an OS that continually puts down other systems must be compensating for some inadequacy.
I actually don't hate Walmart, but if they are really saying something that false they need some serious punishment.
Except that they're NOT saying anything false! They aren't claiming that this is against the law, they're merely claiming "due to copyright" they're not going to do it. Can't you see the difference, or is your hatred of Walmart so intense it's addled your brain?
Due to copyright, a "try it before you buy it" policy simply will not work for Walmart. They know damned well that 99 out of a 100 attempted returns will occur AFTER the software has been copied or the music ripped. If your purchase is genuinely defective, you can STILL return it, because the law says you can.
You could do this once, perhaps twice. That's because the EULA really does say return it if you don't agree. But by the third time you attempted it even the morons at Walmart will stop selling to you.
Walmart does not say this! They say merely that they won't accept the return. Frankly, I don't blame them. Unless the manufacturer has a policy of accepting opened merchandise, I'm out money when it's returned. If the product is defective, I'll take it back (just like Walmart will, btw), but if there's nothing wrong with it, forget it. You do not have the right of no-questions-asked returns.
I didn't say 3.3 was a bugfix release. I said it didn't make it into 3.3, and *subsequent* bugfix releases like 3.3.1, 3.3.2, etc., were not the spot for default changes.
The contest rules specify 1024x768 resolution. Of course it can be scaled to whatever you want, but SVG images have a native "size", and 1024x768 will be it for this contest.
The reason for it shouldn't be hard to understand: not everyone has a 1600x1200 resolution. Scaling a large image down to a small size can make the image unusable, particularly if it had text and fine details. By specifying 1024x768 resolution, the wallpaper will look fine for all users.
p.s. This scaling problem shows up most with SVG icons because they are so small. It's the reason why so many SVG icon sets are unusable, because the authors designed them for 128x128, but you still using 16x16 on your toolbars.
KDE 3.4 will ship with Plastik as the default theme. This wasn't the default for 3.3 because it was too new for that release, and it's bad mojo to change defaults for a bugfix release, so it had to wait until 3.4.
If 3D games aren't the center of your entire existance, then ATI nudges ahead for Free Software operating systems, simply because the XFree86/Xorg drivers for ATI it are better than the drivers for NVidia.
I used to have an NVidia card but I had to give it up precisely because the drivers were proprietary. When your video driver will not let you upgrade your operating system or X11 server, there is something seriously wrong. Under FreeBSD I had precisely this problem. While I do appreciate their support of FreeBSD, I still want drivers that work with my current system.
The proprietary NVidia driver finally got updated, but it was SIX MONTHS later. Imagine not being able to update your operating system because your mouse driver is proprietary. People would be marching on the streets with pitchforks and torches. But with video drivers they're actually thanking the manufacturers for the abuse.
Yeah, how dare we place value on public property.:)
If you think that the penalty for cutting down one tree should be substantially higher than the penalty for murdering a policeman, then I don't want any part of your utopia.

The answer to all of the above is the same: "Nothing. But that isn't the project under discussion. Next time read the story blurb so you know what the topic is."
Now the comparison with GIF is just making yourself look silly...
Then join the silly club, because it was YOU who implied that all images (and not merely SVG metadata) were stored in the XML. Please go read your original post again. After reading it again myself, in the context of your recent reply, I finally understand where you are coming from. Next time express yourself clearly.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but "libreware" has already been appropriated by pretentious stallmanist twits.

One could also argue that a nation that coerces all residents to vote is more "democratic" than one that makes voting voluntary.

And Qt is evil because ...
...Trolltech still hasn't grovelled before the feet of Richard M. Stallman.
I saw 5.2.1 at Fry's last weekend. Quite current, considering my newness of 5.3.

You mean all those horny housewives really aren't glad to see me?
No, but take heart in the fact that their pimps are particularly glad to see your money.
I hate to break it to you, but any site found on the internet is untrustworthy.

Don't worry, I changed it back...

Actually, my ATI drivers come WITH Xorg, so I don't have to worry about installing anything additional.
Funny, I sold my NVidia and bought a Radeon. I couldn't be happier.

"If you cut a tree, and the police catch you, you better kill the policeman... you will spend less years in prison".
Sounds like fascist tyranny to me. But then again, most environmentalists I know are petty fascist wanna-be tyrants anyway.
