Why would I want AT&T Cable Nazis of Oakland County or the lame broadcast stations to supply me with a better picture? All I would get is great shows like 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch','Will & Grace' and local TV Y2K reports where they show stock footage of a guy with glasses on and call it a story in better picture quality anyway? First improve the quality of what is on the TV before imporving the TV itself. For example, I could play a 1993 shareware DOS game on my IBM PS/1 or on an Athlon. In the end the end though, I'd have the same experience. I can read book for the price of a DVD movie and get so much more out of it. I'd love to have a computer of the same price value as a HDTV costs today. I like to use any new products, but just making a new product off of a crappy old product does not interest me. In the end, all you have is a $109 color TV for $10,000.
In The Happy Mutant Handbook you mentioned some odd anecdotes about the real alternate history we never knew existed. Do you have anymore oddities of history that you have found? Perhaps ones to weird to list in Mutant Handbook (:
It started out when Walt Disney first constructed Disneyworld. It was at that moment the Amiga/Transmeta deal was formed because it was necessary to ensure the secrecy of the truth that the Hall of Presidents at Disneyland conatins the true leaders of the world. Also, Ameritech and TCI Cable are involved in this shadowy games. Torvalds is merely a pawn in their elaborate plan. I'm not paranoid, they are just all out to get me.
The great Penn Gillette (of Penn & Teller, the magician duo) who is also coincidentally a Libertarian, had an interesting statement about this sort of matter. As he and his partner are often prodded at for their use of violence in their illusions. He said, and I paraphrase, that voodoo is the belief that the unreal effects the real. Blaming violence in movies or television is voodoo. Suburban America is backing this type of voodoo. Believing in this type of voodoo will only produce the same results of regular voodoo: nothing.
I also wonder, if movies are rated, who is going to stop the government from taking over by using this rating system? i.e. could a movie sporting a political figure doing something that is not flattering have a NC-17 rating just so the masses could not see it? It's nearly as bad as under communism where the government controls all media. That's more or less what it is now.

Some said 'Star and/or Wars' was the most action we would see this summer, and others said 'Austin Powers', 'Eyes Wide Shut', 'Wild Wild West', etc. were going to be the most exciting.
They are all wrong. 'Amiga Rumor Time 3000' is the best thing I've seen yet! I don't believe I have ever experianced so much entertainment. My hats off to Spielberg/Lucas/Krubrick or whoever directed this action packed thriller about the olde tyme machines.
