    They needed just around 30m/s delta-v. This is entirely plausible to achieve with escaping air. Moreover, the rotating section can help to stabilize the orientation (it's a giant gyroscope) and minimize the tumble.

    They got the Sun right in _some_ shots, but not in all of them. Possibly because they used the actual landscapes and sunsets in some shots.

    They did it in a couple of scenes. You might notice that when Mark throws stuff (like crates) it falls significantly slower than on Earth. But I guess we'll have to wait for the realistic gravity depiction until we can get a movie set on the actual Mars.

    Changing jobs on H1B is easy - I've done this before myself. Getting the initial H1B petition approved is another story.

    It makes it more acidic because it draws out the bases into itself, which you then urinate out.

    How? It's not possible chemically. Bases are negatively charged, so if you piss them away then your body will get charged. It's impossible, of course. Water can only _dilute_ the bodily fluids.

    And never mind that the blood acidity is one of the most tightly controlled body parameters - you simply can't affect it in any measurable way by eating different kinds of food or drink (that is, until you get a SERIOUS metabolic disorder).

    Human body is EXTREMELY good at regulating the amount of carbonic acid in blood. It uses a process called "breathing" for that.

    "Carbonic acid" is just another name for dissolved CO2.

    Uhm, I'm one of the soda "addicts" (I like the taste of Diet Coke). I have a stack of diet coke bottles near our fridge just for me and people can tell that I'm at my desk by the sound of opening Coke cans.

    Yet my desk is clean, I don't have a single sticky ring or stain on it. I'm not overweight (anymore, wooh!) and I walk for 15 kilometers every day (thanks, Fitbit!). So please, check your stereotypes.

    So you're opposing the fact that quite literally millions of people were spared premature death from lung diseases just because in future other millions of people will be spared from other diseases?

    it's that it actively draws them out of your body. Drink it and your blood becomes acidic, leeching nutrients out of your bones and muscle tissue

    WTF? Pure water does not make blood any more acidic or basic. It simply can not do it. In reality, drinking distilled water is OK - your body gets more than enough minerals with food to not care about a couple of milligrams of missing dissolved salts.

    Try to restrain your dogs from doing that. It's really unhealthy for them - treating a dog with diabetes is definitely not a nice pastime.

    You leave your employer, you leave your sponsor. And no one will sponsor you as you want to change gigs.

    You can search for a new employer without any knowledge or approval from your current employer. The new employer simply files a petition for H1B transfer and that's it. It's also perfectly legal for multiple employers to file concurrent petitions for you.

    MPTCP was not available on previous versions of iOS without some prodding. Basically, only Siri used it - now it is available for regular applications. And there is an API - https://support.apple.com/en-u... , without MPTCP applications will get ECONNRESET errors when connections are switched.

    Unfortunately, you don't need a complete virus to cause havoc. A simple working reverse transcriptase or integrase is more than enough, even without actual viral DNA/RNA present.

    8% of DNA is HUGE. And endogenous viral DNA is hardly the only offender - simple retrotransposons are just as nasty. We _just_ might be able to edit out several fragments of DNA that cause really bad hereditary diseases in each generation, without causing a lot of cancer-inducing mutations. But 8%? Not a chance.

    You might not understand how, but that's EXACTLY what this does transparently. It's one of the use cases - streaming a video, moving away from the WiFi, and the stream continues transparently.

    iOS has support for Multipath-TCP and Netflix uses it. It's not automatic and not every application can utilize it, but quite a lot actually do. Unfortunately, most of online games still don't.

    The unlatched door was in Paris and the torn seatbelt in New York. German taxis were generally above the US average.

    Give it 5-10 years or whenever the current Uber drivers have to get a new one.

    It doesn't work like this - Uber driver's car actually has to meet Uber's standards, a bad car will be quickly banned from the system. By now it's been two years since Uber got big and I don't see any deterioration in their car quality, and I use Uber a lot in different cities in several countries.

    I've been in many, MANY poorly-maintained taxis, often with egregious flaws. In one case a door came unlatched on a highway, in another case seat belts were visibly torn.

    I've yet to see an Uber car that is even close to this level of disrepair.

    Lol! I've missed planes several times because taxi companies were not able to provide transportation, even though I arranged it well in advance. And they are not responsible for anything - after all, what are you going to do?
