    Not exactly. According to the specs the sensor has a 37mm x 49mm frame. 6x6 film has a 56mm x 56mm frame. So part of the lens circle will be "cropped" making those old lenses slightly more telephoto.

    Depends. Standard sRGB used in a jpeg file stores the data in non-linear format. If data was stored in a linear format, then a disproportionate part of the gamut would be in the highlights. On the other hand, a raw file contains the data in a linear format.

    By not being taken seriously, I meant that it's being seen as a cheaper alternative to photoshop for those with simpler photo editing needs. Of course, many people have found it useful. However, it is going to need a lot more than simply changing around the gui for it to be taken seriously.

    Well I've used both programs pretty extensively, and in fact have probably used the gimp more. I'm a photo major, and the digital courses at my school are completely structured around Photoshop. Limitations in the gimp like a lack of 16-bit color and no adjustment layers means that I can't even think of using it for class work.

    A day late and a dollar short. In all seriousness, Photoshop has had adjustment layers for 14 years, while the gimp is just laying the foundation for non-destructive editing. The gimp has failed to keep up, and now no one is even willing to take it seriously.

    In my experience, Krita has never been responsive enough. Supposedly the KOffice team is working on speeding up the application.

    Many of the major linux distros don't include an mp3 decoder by default because of the patents.

    Every user that installs an H.264 decoder only increases the installed base of the codec. A larger installed base allows the codec to reach a universal status, which will mean more people buying this. If you really want to hit them where it hurts, then you won't install the decoder whether or not you payed for a license.

    If the MPEG-LA looked at history, they would know that pretty much every format universal on the Internet today, got that way because the player/viewer was offered free of charge. The MPEG-LA is basically shooting them selves in the foot by requiring a royalty to decode.

    This would punish anyone who wants to follow the law. A better approach is to simply not implement it. Firefox is currently used by a third of web users, and not supporting it would mean that there is no way for H.264 to become universal.

    How many times have we designed things that are supposed to be unsinkable or infallible and then had them sink or fail? If there is a radioactive material being used in the plant, then there is a chance that some of it will leak out.

    Second... I don't want my tax dollars being used for a mirror server. Plenty of other people do that already, and even if they didn't, we have bittorrent.

    Many of the mirros that download from are hosted by state universities, and guess who funds those.

    I've mostly switched to Konqueror for most of my browsing. I only use Firefox for gmail and google docs. I've used firefox since firebird 0.7.

    Often times these feature are crappy things thrown in to cover up low quality. It's like selling a cell phone with a 5MP camera and a crappy lens. Now, somebody putting the extra research would realize in this case that suspension saps energy from peddling. Of course, if you plan on riding on rough terrain, you could always find mountain bikes in that price range which come with suspensions much more advanced than those used in walmart bikes.

    A derailer is very complex system that is completely exposed to the elements. Dirt gets thrown in it's direction and it's likely to get banged around. It has to move smoothly and quickly and be very precise. The cable that controls it also has to work flawlessly.

    What you are talking about is reciprocity failure, where the film stops responding in a linear fashion to increases in exposure. However, if for some strange reason I wanted to make a wall sized print of a city, then the first thing I would be grabbing is a view camera, a few loaded film holders.
