Chill out with the melodrama: requiring digital signing to play music or watch videos is annoying and obnoxious, yes, but cause for a revolution? No. If you don't want the patch, don't download it. And if you find windows overbearing, don't use it. It's not the apocalypse for goodness sake.
*slap to the forehead*... see, but that's where you're wrong. This is exactly the attitude that allows things like these to happen. It may not be apocalyptic but it is very serious. This isn't a joke, but time and time again, what's the very first post made on any given article on slashdot let alone a serious one? A joke. And that's not right. You have to realize the repercussions of something like this. Their huge. Sure, anyone in the know can just not download it now, but what about when it comes built in to loghorn and all versions of windows after that? The unsavvy will be clueless. This will affect every person and every company who uses a computer and windows... Just don't use windows right? Many of the best tools, programs, games, etc are on windows. People who say "just don't use windows" don't realize it's not as easy as that. It's getting serious folks. Something has to be done soon about getting Linux to go mainstream. And fast.
