I did not have a laptop for the first 3 years of college and did very well. Once I did get one, I because very distracted! Free wireless in class was just too tempting to get on IRC,AIM, or whatever and chat it up with friends. I probably would have got more out of those classes had I not had a laptop.:)
Mine has had the logic board replace three times already as well. So far about every 6 months it has died. I'm due for another break down in December.:P I'm getting tired of this thing breaking, but I still love it when it works. Last time I brought it in the genius said that if it happens again they'll probably replace it with a new iBook. I would love that, but now that he said that, it'll probably keep running forever. I think I'd prefer it to keep running anyway. I'm just glad that Apple fix my laptop for free even though it is out of warrenty now.
I agree. Do we really want more laws telling us what we can and can't do? Before we know it we won't be able to freely send email to whomever we want. I don't know how we're going to solve the problem of spam, but we should be careful about the laws that are made to stop it. No one wants these laws to be used against individuals to stop freedom of speech.
I've had some very good online classes with lots of interaction with the instructor and students and I've had really awful classes where all you get is the book and final exam. It really just depends on the instructor and how they set up the class. Before taking a course I would suggest that you talk to the instructor and ask what the class will be like. That way you know if you're just paying for a book or if you're getting a quality class.
I live in Tempe AZ, and I couldn't get dsl through uswest either. I found this company called Phoenix DSL which is an isp for Northpoint. I had DSL within 3 weeks of calling them and its way faster and more reliable then the dsl I had through uswest. I would recommend them if you are close enough to their CO. I use magazines, pillows, or whatever happens to be lying around near me. All seem to work well and don't cost me anything extra.
