  1. I'm surprised.. on Gmail Goes Public · · Score: 1

...that noone mentioned gmailfs http://richard.jones.name/google-hacks/gmail-files ystem/gmail-filesystem.html ...it's a mountable linux filesystem that uses gmail as the storage medium. It works quite well..at times google breaks it, but the authors (so far) have been pretty quick to fix as it's usually a small change, like formatting for example.

If you use this for sensitive data, id recommend encrypting the file first.
Another plus, is you can actually RUN programs from gmailfs...and yet another added bonus...when googles gmail bot searches through your mailbox to gather ad targeting data..they'll be fed a bunch of garbage..and yes you can still use it for normal emails.

Obviously you don;t see the big pictue, allow me to explain why this quote came up.

The parent mentioned that (and I paraphrase) as long as the rest of the country sat around snd watched (because it had nothing to do with them...yet) nothing would change, this quote says much more than its obvious meaning, you do more to trivialize it by narrowing its application than I did by sharing it. Also do you think the DVD thing is the only thing this broadcast flag can handle? It can have applications, such as disabling the 'manual skip commercial' features of future tivo-like systems, how about a flag that won;t allow you to change the channel when a certain commercial comes on, (ok this might be exxageration, but it makes a point), also the phrase shows how thinking 'well this is only happening in the USA, so fuck the yanks', when in reality, it will proably be adopted (perhaps by financial force) by other countries as well.

The words of the phrase itself do not apply, but the meaning behind it applies very much so.

I detest when such great quotes are marginalized.

and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
    Then they came for me
and there was no one left
    to speak out for me.

Wrong, he would have lost if not had been for the chad thing in Florida which was related to none other than Jeb Bush, did you not hear about the thousands of 'lost' DEMOCRAT votes sitting in Oliphants office near a boiler? Jeb Bush put her there. Anyone claiming all that as coincedence is delusional at best. Then when the minority speakers tried to point this fact out and get the votes counted, congress refused to listen to 2 dozen or so people because they did not have a congressmans signature, when asked, each one told the same story, as they tried to get in contact with every congressman, they were snubbed and told they were unavailable, NONE of them would sign the requests.

No, they aren't, the user who put the unprotected windows box on the internet is the _real_ danger, and blocking pings does not further that.

    > There's nothing wrong with security through obscurity unless that's all you've got.

On a public forum, others read what others post, and god help them, some even do what is posted, most only see "if i block all pings, i am unhacakable", it is the teaching and furtherance of this practice that is the danger.

Your statement that there's _nothing_ wrong with security through obscurity (whether it's all you got or not) is a very dangerous statement to stand behind, which is why I suspect you posted as an AC.
