Nice write-up. Very interesting behind-the-scenes details. You should flesh it out a little more, add some info and anecdotes on the other teams and find an appropriate periodical to submit it to.
Thanks for taking the time. Get some sleep and I hope you have better luck next year.
It's probably just me, but does anyone else look at the first sample image and see a woman lying on her back in a toga (with a Boeing aircraft crashing into her pelvis)? It looks like some toppled Greek statuary.
Statutory licensing combined with modern ease of distribution could potentially be a moneymaker for talented cover bands: Identify out of print albums for which sufficient demand exists [a level that still needs to be determined], re-record the whole thing note for note, and sell it over the internet.
You could really rile the boys from Metallica with this approach. Although maybe the fees from statutory licensing are enough to keep them in whatever state passes for happy with them.
"the most hyped component of the next iteration of Windows."
I first read this as "the next irritation of Windows." Actually, I suspect "iteration" is a typo.
I work with the developers of OSXvnc and we've received a report that it isn't working under 10.2.8. I now suspect that it's the rumored network problems at work. Heck, it works under Panther.
I couldn't figure out this morning why a few minutes after I installed the upgrade via software update, my coworker's machine didn't find it. We went out of our way to download it from the Apple web site in the hopes that it would include a fix to a Safari bug that keeps crashing it several times a day (objc: message _blinkCaret sent to freed object).
