I don't think that that was quite his point. I think he was referring to the fact that one could implement the same features *directly into* the source instead of creating a seperate library.
I think the point is that a cracker could use a dictionary attack more effectively (i.e. try every word in a (modified) dictionary as the password). All the more reason to use obscure passwords, in my mind.
