Actually, I'd think that this is more akin to that of a grid, or a datagrid since data is being utilized and worked on on top of a disparate heterogenious group of resources (computers). While true taht grid takes it's concepts from the cluster community, grid enables much more to be done in the matter of data manipulation, storage, and management.
This is exactly what they said to all of the state boarders and BMXers, and now look at the massive following that has become as a spectator sport. Kind of interesting though, gaming seems to be the chosen method of alternate entertainment by the professionals (Tony Hawk, et al) in that industry.
I'm pretty sure the innovation and difference in this new PocketPC cluster is the fact that it transmits data through the cluster through the wireless spectrum (irDA).
The iPaq model that is shown in the parent uses pretty bulky pcmcia card expansion slots and a lot of wires to connect everything together. The wireless spectrum opens up the possibility to compute a much broader range of jobs through the limited brains of pocketPC's.
I'm kind of interested to find out what OS this was created under. Did they successfully impliment this under windows CE? or is it a modified OS build specifically for this job?
I find it interesting that the article fails to mention the research that is going into seeing if this is entirely feasable at all. Not only the work at MIT, but also a host of othe colleges all around like UTA and some others.
I'm wandering whether this 99 dollar price drop will last for the long haul. Is it possible that once Nintendo gets enough purchases, that it will raise the prices due to a newly found supply and demand?
Also, how long can they keep up the demand? regardless of the price, are they doing anything to change their game software strategy any? I still feel that the online gameing found in PS2 and Xbox keeps the GC from being used by a larger sum of people.
Ahem, The CLI is just as much of a standard as C#

"professional gamers" is an oxymoron,
