Ohio still has a paper trail brought to us by a bunch of activist early in the switch to the electronic machines (my district had it from the start). In the review section of casting your ballot, it prints in paper in a window and you verify the screen and paper reciept with yout vote then select cast to record it or discard to start over.
I find that to be a reasonable system.especially now that i can get in and out in less than half the time it took in the 90s.

However, I do enjoy the perks of it being daylight when the youngest of the kids going to school in my area and are out waiting on the buss. It's still dark when the high school kids catch their rides. But for the last few days, the younger kids have had to walk to the bus stop in the dark and starting Monday, it will be daylight or lighter out. Why is it when people in the U.S. have a difficult situation to face, some percentage of the population pusses out and advocates for jettisoning constitutional rights. If we don't do what's right in these cases, we have little claim on our republic.
What is right in these cases is for these idiots to stay away from people and things that can harm others until it is certain that they will not present a danger. After the owner picked it up and took it home, he called angrily complaining that he just paid me $500 and it does the same damn thing. I stopped over and found the problem to be a bad cord on his mouse- $20 dollars later, his old system would have been just fine still.

If you want to take that control away, you need to do it there or infiltrate their party in primaries like the TEA party republicans do.
