I recently blocked spiders/bots to my webservers and for a test redirected them to a counter script for a while.. the results were quite stunning.. several million hits EACH DAY!
These were mostly just spiders that were identifiable from the user agent so the actual figure could be much higher with those sneaky bots that pretend to be IE or whatever.. so probably most traffic on the net is not even human! Still it keeps the traffic brokers in business..;)
So even if MS has won 'the browser war' on desktop pc's for now there is still a brave new world out there in need of good browsers such as pda's and other mobile gadgets yet to come..
Opera or some other browser may dominate that field and as people become used to using it on their mobile toys there may be a gradual shift to using it on the desktop in place of IE.
Or maybe the desktop pc as we know it today will simply not be around or as popular in the future and so IE will be defunct..
In my opinion the best feature of IE is the google toolbar anyway - if only it were available for firebird or some other good browser I would be able to switch from IE..
spacetax.com
those damn daleks scared the crap out of me as a kid.. I'm not going to sleep tonight!
Its sure to save the company and if you build enough of them then surely one will make it to mars in one piece.. or not.. ;)
RIP Beagle2
