My router/stateful firewall will still act as the gateway to my internal network even with ipv6. All traffic flows though there and I can setup firewall rules as to what I'll allow in/out of the wan/lan ports. Nothing on the 'inside' of that router really needs to run a firewall. They can't get out without going though the router even with a 'public' address.

Are you saying that IPv6 address can not be placed behind a firewall? Just because it's a publicly addressable block doesn't mean it can't be firewalled off. There are entire companies running on 'real' ipv4 addresses right now that can't just be nmaped because they are secured with a firewall. NAT is not required to create that curtain, proper network security (firewall, acls, gateways, routing, etc) is.

The rest of it, well i'm not expert so I can't comment.

But why can't we just get major ISPs to start handing out ipv6 addresses for external communication and just use ipv6 to ipv4 nat technology internally?

I applaud google for providing this option to power users and I myself have no solution for regular users, but the fact remains that the average user has no clue they have any other choice except google play.

While your argument is correct, it also points out the glaring issues with the walled gardens created by apple and google with their ubiquitous marketplaces. If software is speech and if mobile apps can only be installed via app stores (which for 99% of phone using Americans is the case) then we can easily say that google and apple now have more control over our speech than we should be comfortable with.

Who cares if the government allows free speech only to have it taken away by the corporations that control our means to make our speech?

Recently I had a bad sore throat (for like 2 weeks and it was getting worse). I go to the doctor and he wants to run a strep test. I ask him what we will do if it says I have strep. He replies that I would get antibiotics. I ask him what he will do if says I do not have strep. He says it's most likely still bacterial and he would give me antibiotics.

So I ask him why he wants to waste my money. After a talk about how my new improved insurance works we now talk about the cost vs results of my medical care.

I then shopped around for the prescription. I found that by calling places and telling them I did not have insurance I found a cheaper rate than buying it with my insurance! Medical care has now turned into a system similar to buying a car.
