BS, look at history, most bosses are white males. Most tech workers are white males. Most white males over price themselves out of the market.
Its funny that you'd refuse to work at mc donalds or burgerking, refuse to cut grass, refuse to do other jobs from which there are plenty of, yet you expect Indians to step aside so you can work in the tech industry.
"America was really built by poor immigrants, like my ancestors from Poland, who scratched the land for a living and asked nothing in return except the freedom to do so"
Your ancestors got paid. The Chinese, Native Americans, Africans, etc did not get a penny. Big difference between immigrants getting paid very little, and free labor.
Who built the whitehouse by the way?
I said build up. Germany was already built when these things happened and so was russia.
The USA was a bunch of trees and grass and the native americans and african americans were used to do all the labor, even the white house was built by slaves.
You cannot assume that better=more expensive. You also cannot assume American=Better.
IF this were the case cars made in Japan for less than cars made in the USA should be lower quality. Sony would no longer have a viable business plan, and China would not be manufacturing all of your stuff and taking your jobs.
Bullshit, American's were always Lazy. When was slavery used to build up Germany? Or the Soviet Union?
You didn't even build up your own country! Everyone else built it for you and you claimed credit. I admit Americans do come up with the best ideas, they just are too lazy to use them. You invented electronics and you let the Japanese companies like Sony out work you. You invent the car and you let every country including Germany make better cars than you? You invent the computer and then you let India and China out work you and make better products?
Thats lazy.
If you cant work harder than Indians and Chinese why do you deserve the jobs? I mean damn, maybe if you were as smart or as hard working as others you'd never have to worry about being fired.
Bosses do not fire people who are productive, stop taking lunch breaks, start working 12-13 hour days, work 6-7 days a week, and stop taking damn coffee breaks. Work 12-13 hours straight with no breaks, code as much as possible within that time frame. The people who code fastest in the least amount of time should keep their jobs and the ones who only write a few hundred lines should be fired immediately.
Politics and the work climate. Nowadays, admins know they can lose their job at the drop of a hat, and as such, they're getting a lot more defensive. Particularly with programmers whose systems might make their jobs a whole lot easier, making them more replaceable!
And we need to just get rid of the whole system of labor and give all of you lazy American workers temp jobs. You idiots are too busy playing politics when you could be working. Maybe if you worked harder and developed better code than people in India you'd keep your job.
I don't see Indians being hired for game development and perhaps this is because game developers actually write programs that everyday joes dont write. Maybe you should brush up on your calculus and get a job at NASA or learn a bit about AI and work on something more innovative.
Anyone can make a Winamp/Mozilla/(insert easy to write open source app)
But most people cannot write a 3d engine, a kernel of the quality of the Linux kernel, an xfree86.
If you want your jobs, learn to work harder and longer hours, or work smarter.
Why? American's are lazy. American's want more money. American's do not respect their jobs or their boss and constantly want raises or to move up the ladder. Americans are too damn ambitious and threatening.
The best workers are workers who will do whatever you say whenever you say it, exactly as you say it. People who will work practically for free and work as many hours as you ask without question. The ideal worker is loyal to you and your company. American workers with their damn unions and lack of ability to be loyal to the company is why companies wont hire them.
Fact is Americans are just not good workers, and the truth is we are lazy. When did the American white male ever work hard in the entire history of the USA? According to American history, most white males were bosses. The problem today is that we don't need any more bosses. We need more slave labor.
Its always cheaper to hire and overwork an Indian or Chinese than to hire a typical snobby White American Male who will want overtime pay and a fair wage.
Think about it, if you wanted to save money would you really hire your own? Hell no.
It was set on fire, it was dropped down steps, it had water dumped on it. still worked. What finally broke it? Someone bumped into it and somehow the eye stopped reading CDs.
Let the users submit the bugs, if enough people vote on the bugs it gets listed as A bounty. If the users then contribute to the bounty the bug gets fixed.
The US did the same stuff, we had cival wars, and more wars, and wars again, and race riots, and more wars.
You didnt say anything in your post that is new. Germany had these problems also.
What the hells the difference? Don't you think the Chinese government feels threatened by capitalist American media and western culture? Come on!
Why the double standard? China is as threated by the power and influence of the USA as we are threatened by the power and influence of Bin Laden.
After watching what we did to the Soviet Union well its obvious why the Chinese government are like they are. Look at the Soviet Union now! No longer communist but look at the country, Russia is in ruins now.
China fears our culture because they see how we have more violence and crime, more chaos, and lots of bad influence. Yes we have more freedom but China is over a billion people and the Chinese government prefers order over freedom. Guess what, the US government fears anarchists. Move into the woods, stop paying taxes, and start a cult and just wait a few years. Soon the swat teams will be brought in and you'll have your compound set on fire.
By introducing the computers at a very early age, you're not fully teaching the students how to do the math problem (as an example), you're teaching them how to plug in numbers into a box. So if they're in a situation where there is no computer, it's likely they won't know how to do the problem.
yes forget multiplication tables. Do it all the old fashioned way. Lets not use paper either, lets do it in our head.
There are online journals and encyclopedias you know. There are online libraries you know. There are government sites.
Powerpoint presentations can be animated you know.
" No, the reason kids don't remember out of books is that they are just plain lazy and don't give a s**t. They actually care about the latest Eminem song because that's what is "cool", "
IF Eminem were teaching math via music videos and with rap lyrics suddenly it would be cool because it would be music. Its all in how you present something. I learned a lot of math by playing chess.
As a kid, I loathed work, I did almost whatever I could to get out of it. Were it not for my mother threatening to kick me out of the house at 17 unless I got a part-time job, well, I don't think I'd be where I'm at today. Now, while I dislike some forms of work still, I realize that there is a reward to it.
You work because there isnt shit else to do. Thats why you work, thats why I work. We all learn, we learn what we are interested in first. We should make learning to read more interesting. Use video games to teach kids how to read. Make games out of math and music.
I think that the point is that nobody wants to have to read a book on how to improve grammar or on math, but in today's job market, if you want to make something of yourself, you have to.
If it were not a book and it were a game or it were supported by puff daddy the kids would accept it as cool. Books arent cool, Books are for nerds.
In China and Japan kids are doing college level calculus.
Guess what, not all of us are math geniuses who are getting an M.S. in mathematics so we arent all capable of doing calculus without calclators.
I notice people are willing to fight for freedom for the Iraqis, for the Chinese, for every country imagineable but in the USA we want a police state to protect ourselves from the terrorists?
I'm confused, someone please explain this to me. We pass the patriot act, and make it possible to toss anyone in prison who even resembles a terrorist with no trial, nothing. I'd be worried about the USA.
Thats China, I'm from the USA. I suppose people who read slashdot from China might care but in that case they'd most likely be sent to jail for reading this site.
So why do we focus so much on civil rights in China when we have so many civil rights issues in the USA to focus on?
Maybe if these open source people were to focus on actually making more educational tools we would be able to have a nice way to teach people.
All we have so far is http://en.wikipedia.org/
Wikipedia is a good start. Blogs are useful also for professors. Now we have some of the tools to teach courses using the computers and the internet but we need much much more before we can replace the current flawed method with a slightly less flawed online education method.
When we have an E-school, I'll support the idea of E-learning. Until we have the E-School and plenty of open source tools which help teach well then, the only tool i've seen was blackboard, and if we can do a fantastic site such as slashdot, we can do better than blackboard.
Think of it this way. Sir Isaac Newton was a genius. One of the smartest men in the world and now we expect gradeschool students to learn the same maths this super genius was messing around with. DO you really think every kid, every teen, every adult is capable of being as smart as Newton, Einstien, and all these fellows? Hell no.
And its not important for us to be a math genius to learn to use the math which these math geniuses may have invented. Without the calculator theres no way 90^ of us could do calculus. Without the word processor half of us could not write a paper with perfect grammar.
Do we want to go back to the 1800s? Or move foward? I think some people want us to continue to teach the same way we did 100 years ago even when the material we are teaching is 100 years ahead. Thats just impossible, some things are impossible to teach the average class without the help of computers and as classes have hundreds of students it will be impossible to teach something like multivariable calculus to a bunch of 8th graders. Guess what though? Thats what we have to do if we are to keep up with Japan and China.
* The people who invented and commercialized that tv didn't have tv in their classrooms.
People in egypt who built pyramids did not have calculators, why would we need them now?
* The people who invented the computer didn't have computers in their classrooms.

* The people who cured polio, mumps, rubella, diptheria, pertussis, tetanus, etc. didn't have computers in their classrooms.
In ancient Rome, we did not have chemistry or physics, the earth was flat and zeus was throwing lightning down on people. Why would we need to ever teach physics? They didnt have it and look what they built.
* The people who split the atom didn't have computers in their classrooms.
Yeah and I'm sure they would all wish computers didnt exist because it would make their job splitting atoms so much more challenging and fun.
* Shakespear, Milton, Dickens, Twain, Dostoyevski, Joyce, Capote, Hemmingway, etc., didn't have computers in their classrooms.
Some of them didnt have pencils and used a quil. Would you like to go back to the 1700-1800s? If you don't want to go back in time please shut up. Computers make learning calculus alot easier, it makes learning how to read and write much easier when you can spell check at a button click without having to look through a dictionary to check every word you think you may have mispelled.
Theres an increase in productivity with computers, if you cannot see this then I suggest you move to communist china where you can live in a backwards society in which everyone works 12 hours a day for a penny an hour.

Oh believe me if I post an ANTI US terrorist post I can expect the same thing to happen to me as has happened to the people who run Al Qaedas website.

never used calculus, and algebra used in programming if you want to call it algebra is only basic algebra.
