"Have any Slashdot readers ever actually used the backwards compatibility on their PlayStation 2?"
I never got a PS2... but if I did, I sure would have used it, if not for the games, but definatly for the controllers and other PS1 accessories that I bought.
In the end, it would have saved me cash since I wouldn't have to buy 4 new controllers and 4 way adaptor.
When I started dieting, I also got a copy of DDR for my playstation. The game actually has a "workout mode" that keeps count of calories burned.
I would play it everyday, for about 30 minutes to an hour.
I noticed improvement after the first week: when I first started, I couldn't play for more than 5 or 10 minutes without getting winded. After a week, I was able to play for 20-30 minutes.
I stopped playing it a few months ago. In the end, I dropped around 85 lbs. I feel much better doing it this way (a traditional program of diet and exercise) than going on, what is IMO, a "fad" diet, like Atkins.
Is this paper grader going to be open source? I hope so.. I'd be able to tell exactly what conditions I need to meet in order to make an A.
Hell, at that point, I could probably script the entire process of writing papers and never do any work again! =)
From my understanding, holding the shift key on a windows box while inserting a CD will stop the autorun feature, which I hear installs a driver on the computer so that I can not rip the music off of it.
My question is: what gives this company the right to install software on my computer without my authorization? What if the driver is bugged and somehow causes data loss? Can I sue them?
Also, I assume that these DRM measures will never work on linux. I also imagine that rather than find a way to do this under linux, they'd like to outlaw open source.

I have an iPod myself. Once I get my linux box configured, I plan on using gtkpod.
Why don't we just wait for the windows port to be released and try it out with Wine? I'm sure it'll work just fine.
