I'm gonna have to counter that. "Selling out their soul?" How do you think Google can pay for their operation cost and make money if they're not going to have ad? They actually made it their point not to include flashy graphic ads already! How much more do you want? Persoanlly, I don't mind about those text ad. Speaking of selling out soul (I don't want to start a flame... but here goes), how about Slashdot? We have big flashy ads, but I don't hear people complaining. As for pagerank and advertisers trying to beat it. For one, blogs bomb it by accident sometimes, but that could be easily remedied in the future (create a "gray list" of blog sites, and user get to say whether they want blog result or not). As for advertiser, I don't think they're quite successful at Google bombing Google (they just make the webpage they're google bombing with on the black list... BANG, no more lousy advertisers, remember SearchKing.com lawsuit?).
As for your argument how other search engine got neglected, how about Google when they start out? They got where they are now through their reputation alone, doesn't that count for something?

Maybe they did list you under Polar region. Canada is pretty close to the pole (I think part of Canada is in the pole...). Maybe they include Canada because Polar region encompass so little population or internet, that they decided maybe including Canada can boost that number up. Then again, there's Russia... Actually, a different type of engine (PDE, pulse detonation engine) might be good for military for vehicle that doesn't need that high velocity but require a very long range. Bascially instead of burning the fuel (combusting it), it creates thousands of "bomb" per seconds to propell the vehicle. PDE have a ridiculously high fuel efficiency (80~90%) compare to other jet engine (~30% or even lower). So for military, especailly for surveillance, long range weapon, PDE might be a better choice then scramjet.

ramjet and scramjet are essentially the same, they both compress air by their own velocity (unlike normal jet engine, which compress air with the engine's own turbofan, which cause a waste in energy).
    The only difference is that...
Ramjet has a combustion chamber that slow the air down before combusting it. It's designed so that the fuel/air combo is combusted at subsonic speed.
Scramjet does not have a special combustion chamber, the fuel was combusted with air traveling the supersonic speed (hence the problem of the fuel being blown out the engine before it can be burned).
So I think ramjet would also make a similar puffy smoke trail as scramjet.

The reason is that they're not testing the airframe at all (it's built to be as simple and light as possible), they're just testing whether the engine can even light or not. That was their past problem, scramjet in past can't operate past mach 6.

You're right, scramjet didn't accerlerate to mach 7, the only thing they're testing is that CAN scramjet operate when the air flowing through it is at mach 7. Because in the past, the major problem with scramjet is that when it approaches mach 6, the speed of the airflow literally snuff out the engine. Now they seems to be able to keep the scram jey burning at mach 7 (now they just need that thrust).

I know some fansub groups still follow that decree.

they'll stop all work and cease distribution

Today that idea's a joke. Yes, the fansubbers themselves will cease work/distribution. But once the files have been released onto the internet, P2Pers will keep distributing as long as it's popular.

Well, fansubbers weren't at fault here, most still have a statement asking all who have their work to stop distribution.

Also, that "rule" made more sense back when anime was rarely licensed for America. Today there are many titles that obviously have a US release written into their business plan from the start (none moreso than "Big O" volume 2)

I don't think Big O or other anime that was intended to be released here was fansubbed...

On a side note, the reason why many fansubber deviate from their original doctrine is that many anime, unintended to be dubbed to US, was extremely badly dubbed by companies here. (to name a few... "CardCaptors" "Sailor Moon" etc.) Mostly because the cultural differences (affection between people of same sex is not considered gay, it's normal for siblings to marry each other... lots of other stuff and cultural differences)

P.S. I know about these from a friend who's in a fansub group that still followed the unwritten rule.
