If you want to shield them from sex, perhaps you should not have a computer, television, radio, newspaper, magazine, or any other connection to the outside world. You can also blindfold them and lock them in a dark room with their hands tied behind the back. It's for the best-- sex is a horrible, hideous thing. If you see it, run the other way, it's a monster that will consume you.

What is your scientific evidence that suggests porn will HARM kids in the slightest?

Really, I don't. I really could care less that he was tricking children. Sex is a fact of life. Hell, anything is, we only set ourselves up to get offended-- I was never offended much by things as a child-- I think it's really blown out of proportion.

I don't think goatse would disturb me any more if I was a young kid. I really can't see why those subjective "sex-is-bad" ideas come from, besides society and religion. I only hear vague "kids aren't ready" bullshit.

HOWEVER, he is cybersquatting, that is, playing off popular website typos to send people to his crap. That's like the mikerowesoft.com case-- although on an even worse level.

I don't care that children saw Janet Jackson's boob on TV (GASP TEH END OF DA WORLD!!!!11) and I don't care if they accidently see "DORM SEX". It didn't disturb or pervert me, and I see no scientific evidence to suggest it'll do the same for kids.

Let's keep our personal morality out of it (this creates problems. FCC guidelines, for example, require "community standards of decency". Oh joy, isn't that just a nice, fine, "freedom-of-expression" friendly phrase?) and focus on the real issue, which is cybersquatting.

You should be modded down for troll. I was simply weighing in my opinion. In no way did I claim this was pure fact. You're a troll, a dumbass, and a worthless human being. I was weighing in what I currently think.

Again, I'll reiterate the topic since you're apparently lacking the intellect to understand it: "Fast growing distro". Not the one with the most users currently. That is, "Fastest growing". And although Mandrake is based in France, it still has a world-wide following.

I am open to criticism of what I say, but there is no reason to attack me. I wonder if you're one of the trolls that feel compelled to stalk me on the internet (yes, sadly, I do have some, you could be from wikipedia, genmay, gamefaqs, or any other shithole on the internet that I've been). So, which is it? Random SlashTroll, or Stalker?

There's really no hard data out there, from what I've seen. I think a slashdot poll would settle this matter better...

My comments are based on what I've seen. What's youre problem? I see people talk about Gentoo and Mandrake far more often than other distros. And, as far as I know, SuSE is more of a European distro than an American one, which is what I'm speaking from.

I don't know anyone who has any interest in Fedora. Let's do some googling:

    Fedora - Results 1 - 10 of about 1,330,000
    Mandrake Linux - Results 1 - 10 of about 1,850,000
Mandrake - Results 1 - 10 of about 4,200,000 (most of these SEEM to be linux-related...)
    Gentoo - Results 1 - 10 of about 2,170,000
    Gentoo Linux - Results 1 - 10 of about 1,110,000
SuSE - esults 1 - 10 of about 10,400,000 (it might be more popular than I thought, however, I have heard very little about it, and as far as I know it's older)
Debian - Results 1 - 10 of about 26,800,000 (Maybe I was wrong about Debian-- still, I hear about Mandrake much more often....)
    Debian Linux - 1 - 10 of about 4,080,000

Of course, the question is, Which is the fastest growing? The biggest doesn't mean fastest growing. And from what I've seen, Mandrake and Gentoo ARE growing the fastest, especially Gentoo among geeks. Just hop around among message boards.

This post was more aimed at normal desktop usage than servers/corporate usage.

But Gentoo has stepped out of the shadows and now is talk of the town among geeks (although it has yet to gain a lot of popularity under "Linux laymen".

I'd say it's a toss-up between Mandrake and Gentoo. RedHat IS shrinking, for obvious reasons, and Fedora just isn't that popular. Debian isn't as "big" as Mandrake, Slackware... I haven't heard much about that in a while... and SuSE, while up there, seems to have been more popular two years ago than it is now.

The fastest-growing LiveCD linux obviously is Knoppix, which really is its own class apart from the desktop/server environments.
