  1. Micheal Moore in general on Fahrenheit 9/11 Discussion · · Score: 1

Hey All; First let me say that the United States of America was built on the premise that you can say/write/publish freely. Does that not look like it is slowly dissappearing? Ever since Sept 11, 2001 people like MM ( as well as a few others) have been snubbed by the media. I will admit that some of Micheal's information has some half-truths to it. For example, the whole bitch-session about his film not being released because the execs "didn't like it". Well, it turns out he knew that months ago. Publicity stunt extrordinare. Anyway, I have not yet seen the film, but I look forward to it. I always like to look at both sides of the story. I want to be objective and listen to facts. I , too , grew up across the border in Canada and had a negative view of Americans. I have lived here for about 9 years now and it is just like any other country I have visited ( I have visited several) . It seems that there are assholes, fascists and bigots here too. However, there are also some very considerate and intelligent folks too. Just so you know, Canada has dickheads and nice folk too. I think that there are less of them in Canada than the US, because the population of Canada is about 1/10th that of the US. So, I guess it really evens itself out, don't you think? So, I have spoken my 2 cents Peace. Zaphod

  2. Re:shatner and tekwar on Shatner to Record Another Album · · Score: 1

Dude; The only reason that I did not bring up TekWar was that I was just reading the story now. I watched it religiously!! I saw all the movies ( TekWar, Tek Lords, Tek Justice , Tek Lab) and the series used to be on CTV in Canada every Thursday night ( It ran in 94 and 95 I think). I also remember catching it on the SciFi channel in syndication when I moved to the US of A in 95. I loved TekWar. It was major cheese ( to the tune of Buckaroo Banzai and Damnation Alley) but it was really slick and new. I wish he would shit-can the music and bring TekWar back.. Bones....must....make....more....records...

  3. Re:I think fedora's fantastic on OSNews Rates Fedora Core 1 Mild Disappointment · · Score: 1

I agree with you. I think that people are just spoiled and expect things to be like our pals at Redmond ( the OTHER O/S). As for the article that is on OS News, cripes! So you had to compile Gaim! Wow, I, being one of the old timers used OSes when UNIX was UNIX and only big corps and goverments ran it, am used to having to compile stuff. I expect it! To the person that wrote the article Eugenia Loli-Queru , if you want easy installs, use Windo$!! The only issue that I had was I had to install the GNU C++ libraries to get an application that I needed to test on it. Other than that, I think it is cool. More stable than RedmondWare. Bartock

  4. Re:I use VoIP on VoIP + 802.11 = Bad News For Phone Companies · · Score: 1

You are damn right it is bad news for them!! Far be it from me to give a free plug to a company but I use Vonage at home now (http://www.vonage.com). You can't beat this for a price $34.99/month plus tax to call ANYWHERE in the 50 states and Canada for FREE!! I have already seen big boys like Verizon, SBC and Pacific Bell getting scared of them. They are having their lobbyists try to push Congress and The Senate into making them fall under the same scrutiny as them ( they aren't really phone companies but this makes me think that they are getting worried that David is finally starting to fight Goliath) (http://techupdate.zdnet.com/techupdate/stories/ma in/0,14179,2914634,00.html)
I for one think it is time someone gave them some good old fashioned competition. Now, maybe these Giant Bells will realize that customer service and network reliability should come before marketing and profits.
