Great test if it has good sensitivity and specificity. However, the problem will be that it will yield too much confounding information - the so called 'incedentaloma' but only for viruses. It will lead to people receiving unnecessary treatments for the things that were found.
Should only be used for 'house' like cases where 'odd ball' causes are suspected.
That is just evolution. It works even though how it works may be illogical. Look at the human eye for example, the rods and cones point in the opposite direction to the light source! How 'backward' or wrong is that?! Clearly it works though...
Whilst making the pat down more embarrassing may encourage scanner use for the average bloke, average blokes don't blow up planes! So basically this seems like just another ploy to irritate the general public to foster a false sense of security.
Yes, I couldn't resist downloading this to check it out for myself. Not because I'm a Harry Potter fan, but because I'm curious what effect this will have on my wife (who IS a HUGE fan!)
Anyway, for those not in the know, the last few chapters are missing (how coincidental). I doubt it was accidental. What better way to boost sales of the possibly last book than to stage a 'fake' leak where the last chapters are missing!
So what does slashdot think, was it a PLANNED leak, or was it a fan that got too carried away?

WRT the nose/stomach problem, the reason why they are in such close association is that they are derived embryologically from the same structure! that's why birth defects where they are joined (tracheo-esophageal fistulas) are common.
Well, octopus eyes are interesting because the rods and cones actually point in the 'right' direction. human eyes have rods and cones that point 'backward' as in away from the light source, which seems counter intuitive - but then again, since i can see what is on the screen, it is evolutionarily functional. Who is to know if an octopus sees better because the rods and cones point toward the lightsource?
Then again, that is using the assumption that organisms with rods and cones pointing in the direction of the light source see better...
Yes you will die. The most likely cause of death will be cardiogenic arrythmia. Caffeine is an arrythmogenic agent so too much will alter the normal conduction pattern in the heart, you might go into VF which is fatal.
Dehydration as mentioned below is not such a major issue.
1 CD, 1 listener. 1 "music file", many millions of listeners. Enough said.
It's death of common sense that we need to bemoan! As another poster said, it's just an aid!
