Yea.that w/not a flame epoc is a really nice os..(though i wish the dev tools were free -or- cheaper).. my psion 3a just crocked.. and imo it was as good as the palm 3 series.. minus the size of course.. The new Psion Revo is only a tad larger then the palm 3 and his a bright (not backlite) b/w lcd screen.. http://www.psion.com/revo

  2. Promise 2.4 on Multiple IDE Controllers · · Score: 1

    as an above comment said,
    check out www.promise.com
    I have a Promise ultra/66 on my p100
i was using the 2.3 branch of the kernel(i belive that is were ultra/66 support starts)(there is also a patch aval for current kernels(i think), search for ultra66 at redhat to find the patch maintainer).
I was able to use both controllers (the ultra/and integrated hdcont) with no problems -xcept an the kenel being a bit unstable at times.

  3. MS Proxy Server on Samba 2.0 Released · · Score: 1

hey.. i was wondering if anyone is working on a Ms-Proxy Server smb client for unixs.
(for those of you not forced to work behind a MS firewall, the ms-proxy client raps up all tcp/udp/imcp(sortaof) traffic into a smb packet, which is routed to the ms-proxy server, which then sends the native packets on there way...sorta of a goffy microsoft ip-masq implementation)

    If not..
I have looked at the msproxy client traffic with a packet sniffer and it doesnt look to bad (of course we're using version 1. something.. and i know ver 2.x of MSproxy uses a new Proxy Client)... I have considered attempting to write one my self...i think it would be a challenge.. but possible ...but i have not though it out to far..

    Any thoughts?

(ps baggering the powers that be to ditch the NT server and use a linux solution..for our firewall/webserver ect..)

  4. new kernel on Linux 2.2.0-pre3 is available · · Score: 1

hmm.. thanks for your ideas.. I would never have though of typing "linux" into a search engine, lemme give it a shot..

ok.. at Altavista I entered the following query +linux +kernel, There were 535980 reference to "kernel" and 236646 reference to "linux". Now I don t know about you but I m programmer who works
on things other than linux for a living..gasp..so it s not a priority to spend hours sifting though webpages to find the latest information on the linux kernel....

Second..Because of linux s amorphous nature, information is dispersed all across the internet. Because of this, sometimes more inexperienced users will often ask questions that might be
obvious to more seasoned linux users. Responses to these questions that contain no useful information other then the sentiment RTFM don t do the linux community any good and will/could turn potential users away from considering Linux as a viable operating system. I personally would love to see my boss, clients and friends adding linux partitions to their machines at home/work and when they do I plan on fielding
everyone of their questions in a kind and informative manner.
