The "VRAC team" is actually about 150 people. the VR Juggler team (the one who write the software that runs the C6), is actually about 4 grad students (allen, chris, patrick, kevin), the original inventor of the CAVE (Dr. Cruz-Neira), and a few others...
VR Juggler is an opensource virtual reality platform. It is the next generation of CAVE software. It runs caves, c6, HMD, powerwall, desktop VR, etc... highly configurable and highly extensible.
For background info:
Dr. Cruz wrote the original CAVElib (closed source) at EVL for the original CAVE system she designed. NOTE: that all CAVE(tm) systems are only 4 walls! The C6 at VRAC is the worlds first 6 sided cave-like device.
VR Juggler is her next endeavor, it doesn't suffer from the problems that CAVElib does, and whats best is that it is completely open source (LGPL).
you wouldn't have to keep your head still if you had head tracking. You could use magnetic, or even laser to update the head position in the computer...
you're right. if you earn it, you should have a patent.
people like amazon, did not earn their on-click shopping crap. It was very easy to figure out, and so intuitivly obvious that everyone else also "figured it out" too!
What about little companies that would otherwise be trampled by huge companies (Microsoft, Intel, etc..) A patent is actually good for these little guys, which could very well be you or I in the near future. On the otherhand, you almost need a judge to decide on the patent grant - to make sure it's not a stupid patent on some everyday thing (like amazon's click patent)
Netscape Sucks Hairy Ass. Here's a few reasons why:
1.) When you click "exit" everything closes, including your downloads. Duh. Why even provide an exit, can't they run each window in a separate process?. I'd like to see "Exit" totally removed. Me and many other people I know have been burned repeatedly by this one. I'll open about 20 windows with the intent on reading what's in them. Only to then "exit" one of them, and "POOF!" they all close ?!?!?!? This is retarded.
2.) Im really, really tired of the netscape "lock" mechanism. This should be removed. What the hell should _I_ care if another netscape is already running. What's important is that I want another window... behind the scenes, the browser should figure it out and deliver what I want. Not nag me with pointless windows.
Stardust was ok, but a little for the young crowd (like 14-17 depending on maturity). and a little too much like other fantasys out there. (not as bad as asimov though)
Neverwhere WAS cool though. very cool. veryveryvery cool.
It said that the results were inconclusive, and that more research needs to be done.
duh.
The only tempting thing it did say was that it lengthened the dendrites, but... is that good or bad? it also said the dendrites collapse if grown too quickly. ooopps.
JFK JR WHO? Ok, why is this guy special? I didn't even know he existed until he was missing on the news reports.
This guy is no different than the rest of us. (well maybe real different than the Jerry Springer TV watching rednecks out there, ok, so I see the appeal for some people)

they aren't nessesarily military grade chips in that thing.

most translations have 1000's of words wrong, which can hugely distort the facts that are actually in there.
remember that it was not originally in english. of course, now the zealots would hate to see the red sea be changed to the reed sea.
hi
the worst would be www.spam.com (the tasty meat in a can)

ENIAC WAS NOT THE FIRST COMPUTER!!!
Attanasof Berry developed the first computer at Iowa State University.
This is fact, and has even been fought in a court battle (Berry won, of course)
