So you should start looking into alternatives to Windows for your embedded products for the time when Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2k are both unavailable.
That game had one big problem: It only supported 1024 stations (bus, freight and train combined) which could be easily reached before 2030 (the end of the game-time). But it was really addictive, yeah.
I can only speak for me (and I am more of a play-every-game-for-a-few-hours-instead-of-one-for -months player) but as long as there are no more sophisticated input/output systems for pc (at least RL-like view with some kind of glasses) I have no difficulty to differentiate between games and RL. Another reason I don't have these problems might be that most games simulate an US-Style RL that is quite different from German RL (e.g. no guns in RL)
Mine too (and no, I didn't write any linux drivers (yet)).
The way I see it you have a laptop either because you are high enough in the company to get them to buy one even though you don't need one or you have some mobile work to do on it which can be done on linux just as good as (or better than) on windows. As I student who uses a laptop for 2+ years now I have yet to find something that is more work in linux than in windows, especially with the relative to a desktop slow mouse (without an external one) linux has many advantages since there are much more keyboard-oriented programs.
I don't understand the motivation for posting the URL of a Bittorrent Site here on/.
Either you like the site and with the recent events you don't want it closed down too so why do you post it and give it exposure.
Or you want to get it closed down then why do you say you downloaded from the site instead of telling the/. community downloading is evil like the other anti-p2p posters.
If you wanted the URL become exposed (hate p2p-"pirates") but don't want to lose Karma you could have posted as AC so I really see no reason to do so.
P.S.: Also applies to all the others doing the same thing in the last weeks.

Even an Open Source MMORPG where you still pay for Server Costs would be a nice start.
Perhaps more people should just start listening to what the Politicians say instead of voting for one party only. Even though the basic party concept of a party is okay does not mean that their candidate in your area isn't a total madman. This is a problem in most democratic countries around the world which leads to the 2- or at most 3-party systems most of them have.
I (student) sure don't need one. Either I am in class (cell phone would be off anyway), driving (cellphone use is forbidden here in germany while driving) or busy with something else. The only time I am not busy is when I am at home where I have a "normal" phone. Occasionaly it would be nice to have a cell phone (e.g. being late for something) but that happens perhaps once a month and definitely not often enough to make a cell phone necessary.
Could we please restrain the discussion of this issue to the several weekly roughly-matching articles as the arguments always seem to be the same on both sides anyway?
The strange thing with your opinion is that I use unfree software almost exclusively in my holidays (read: Gaming) and use Linux when I have not enough time to worry about Windows problems. Linux just works for me and this is not zeal but simply observation. Sure, sometimes there are problems but they must only be fixed once, not many times over like many Windows apps force me to waste my time.
Oh, and by the way, I use Opera in Gentoo Linux to post this. Opera is the one program I have yet to find a Open Source alternative and since it does not look like I will find one I paid for my copy a few months ago to get rid of the Ads. (Just added so you know I am not a total Open Source/Free Software Zealot;) )
What you don't seem to get is that with free software we stop the constant 'reinventing the wheel' process in commercial software where thousands of companies program one and the same thing instead of using one simple library, written once, debugged once (e.g. zlib, openssl,...). This benefits you as a user because it is easier and faster to make new software from the ever growing pool of existant code than it is to write all from scratch.
I agree that you can not make a (big) game as free software. You can however build a game engine as free software and let individuals or very small groups make content that runs in these engines. The only thing necessary for this thing to work is for the game industry to 'hit the roof' and stop hyping graphics and other totally irrelevant 'features' as the most important part of a game.
The only thing horrible on Slashdot is the non-conformance to certain HTML Standards. The Layout is far superior to any graphical/Flash/... Design and works quite well IMHO.

Data Transfer Rates aren't the problem with modern games, latency is.

The correct question would be one for a cooling system for that card. Transfer speed is irrelevant if the card melts during the boot process.

So basically you say with SMS you pay the same money (approx.) for 1 Megabyte you pay to get 1 Terabyte of Diskspace on Harddisks?

Or for /. users: Use the Internet with Flatrate.
German ones too I believe.
Another even simpler solution: Don't have a mobile phone if you don't need one for work.
So why are you allowed to install a dozen third-party apps to deal with IEs flaws but no alternative to it?
Hitler had propaganda more than 25 years ago...

You misspelled "propaganda"
So to use modern harddisks with Windows you need an antique floppy drive most of us haven't used for years?
It could have something to do with not being able to recompile the drivers on Windows.
