Maybe it the first floating nuclear reactor to power something besides a ship but there are plenty of floating nuclear reactors. Check out http://www.enterprise.navy.mil/ - "The worlds finest nuclear powered aircraft carrier"
The post us just FUD. The problem isn't the voting machines but rather the poll workers who left the "Boxes of automated voting cards that are required to work the electronic machines" in a warehouse in Rockville. RTFA slashdot.
Blockbuster should just patent the business of renting videos and dvd's then sue netflix and everyone else while they're at it. Then RIM could patent a 'Method and system for patenting overreaching and obvious patents' and sue both of them. First to concieve baby!
One of the primary arguments by the PHB's in my company against Linux on the desktop is Microsoft Office. Do not pretend it isn't a big deal."
So they won't gain any office customers by switching because so few desktops run linux but they may lose Windows OS customers because now people can switch to Linux and keep their apps. Lack of apps is one of the big reasons people give for not switching and along with user familiarity is the only upper hand microsoft has right now.
The gui was another case of Microsoft copying Apple. Apple was the first to steal the concept of a graphical interface from Xerox. Then microsoft had to go and steal it too.
It's about money. RIM figured that it was going to cost them more than 612.5M for lawyers fees, lost revenue and the court decision. They did what was best for their company. We just have a crappy system for IP and judicial arbitration.
The precession of the equinoxes relates to Earth's axis of rotation. The article refers to the magnetic north pole which is not the same but perhaps related since the "north" pole usually is very far south or very far north (ie the magnetic and rotational axes have similar orientation). Only during reversals when the location of the pole is highly unstable does it reside in the middle latitudes (at least historically).
The poles actually move around quite a bit with no real predictability although, fluid models of the Earth's inside have been able to reproduce pole reversal.
this page:

has some nice maps of where the Pole's been for the last few hundred years.
The way they figure out where magnetic north was in 1600 is by the magnetic polarization of sea floor near spreading areas. Each new piece of the sea floor cools with a record of the magnetic field when it was created.
Carrying around images and viewing them FROM the ipod on a computer is one thing but I don't want my radiologist to diagnose me from a 2in square screen.
Perhaps they calculate the md5 and overlay it on the picture, losing the original image. Now the md5 is drastically different and they have no way to prove the original image (without the checksum printed on it) matches the checksum.
It would be quite a trick to incorporate an md5 into an image that hashes to that md5.
but there are a lot more computers that aren't servers. Linux will overtake windows when it's installed on more computers than windows, probably more than 3 years from now if it happens.
How many CD's have they sold as a result? I don't think anyone who had thousands of mp3's is willing to go out and buy 50 or 100 cds because they quit filesharing. More likely, Mr. RIAA, people just aren't listening to your music anymore.
A backpack is a good idea because it doesn't look like a laptop bag. Theives that operate at bus stations and air ports often look for laptop bags. Try a Froogle (http://froogle.google.com) search for laptop backpack and you'll turn up a bunch of hits.
User manuals are included for a reason, you don't expect the next car you buy to drive itself or that Christmas ham to cook and eat itself for you. My point is that you can't expect a product to use itself for you, that's your job as the user.
Many of the common Microsoft security problems (including the aforementioned default configuration problems) can be be fixed really easily and if you don't know how it's easy to learn via Google or a library book.
Firewalls specifically can be a headache with networking and it's definately more difficult to deal with one if you don't really know what it is or even that your computer has one (ie if Microsoft included firewall on in the default install).
My mother works as the computer teacher at an elementary school, they have all Window's 95 machines. Obviously, the school buys new computers on occasion and you can't buy a new computer with 95 installed so the county school system reformats every new box they get and puts 95 on it. They can't afford a new site liscence or the labor cost to re-reformat all those computers and put the original operating system back on so they're stuck.
A major problem is they'd have to transmit at a frequency where atmosphere is very transparent to microwaves to avoid power loss but those frequencies are already taken by communications.

You have to be particularly evil to steal Christian rock, in which case why would you want it?

1) Number of GOTO statements 2) Number of comments that match (nearly) exactly the code they explain ex: string name; //name
3) Phone Numbers
