    Seriously though, what is easier to design? (1) A helicopter modified to include wheels and automated flight or (2) a Humvee modified to fly with automated flight

    I'd vote for modified helicopters.

    Of course I can hear a difference! If admitted I couldn't hear the difference between a $700 and a $2000 audio cable, then my reputation as an elite audiophile would be ruinated!

    This is exactly my thought. As far as I know, nobody is saying you CAN'T post photos of these homes. Google is just being nice and recognizing that some people may not like it. And the homeowners are reasonably taking Google up on the offer to remove photos. This guy is being a dick to those homeowners for the sake of what... documentary completeness?

    And to the ISPs, I say... did the Diner Neutrality Act (aka Title VII) violate the 5th Amendment because it forced Denny's to let black people traipse across their private property and order chili fries? No, it did not.

    Triple sigh. The commerce clause and takings clause do not "trump" one another. The commerce clause is concerned with whether Congress has the POWER to regulate a certain activity. The takings clause is concerned with whether Congress must COMPENSATE those affected by such activities. Thus, the government may have the power to shut down a railroad line under the commerce clause, and they may still need to compensate the railway under the takings clause.

    How many Joules are in a gallon of gasoline? Is it the amount of energy generated by internal combustion? The amount of energy generated during "ideal" combustion? Maybe it's the amount of energy released during fusion or fission?

    \ How many Joules are used by an electric car? Which losses are we including (transmission, storage, motor efficiency)?

    I'm seriously asking, because I'm not sure a Joules to Joules comparison would necessarily be any more helpful.

    Exactly right. I'm guessing the prices were established years ago and haven't been adjusted to match the technology. It is possible that the high prices now include depreciation for really expensive older technology that is still in use.

    And people who are saying "we don't know if it's storage" what else could "internally hosted space" mean? As the parent points out, even if we are talking about extremely enhanced services, the price is preposterous.

    It says that, but the law is not based upon your personal interpretation. Implying that red-light violators will get a jury trial is spreading misinformation. And if you are really a strict constructionist, I hope you don't me lying on the stand during your red-light trial. After all, "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech"

    Yes, bicyclists are the biggest threat to me as an SF pedestrian. We need some kind of Critical Mass for peds. Cyclists get all mad at cars because they aren't treated equally on the roads, but they sure don't earn that equality either.
