IMOHO, one of the reasons that many people think that robots are "hyper-competent" is that too many people think that a program can encompass and accommodate every possible circumstance. Even if the robot cars, as a group, were able to arrive at omniscience (at least for their own realm) there will still occur events that no program has anticipated.
I don't think the numbers are quite as bad as it looks at first glance. I don't think it's really 13 men actively seeking those 10 women, more like 11. There's a large gay population that doesn't compete for female attention, to start with. There is also a very large H1B contingent, which is more interested in getting the attention of a woman in India or the Philippines.
A manufacturer who implements this will see his customer base abandon him in droves and will be reduced to only doing work for the consumer market. I have worked on access control systems that have been in place for well over 20 years, I would never install one that we knew would fail after 3.
OK, this makes more sense. Only true morons of that caliber could imagine that ripping and replacing the control system for a power dam, the guts of a multimillion dollar CNC mill, or the access control system for an entire enterprise every few years was a good thing. Know how long it takes to update the embedded firmware on a reader board over RS-485? Fifteen to forty five minutes. Each door. I've worked in enterprises with as many as 21000 reader panels.
She's undoubtedly contracted the robocalls out to a professional service, and they all spoof or obfuscate the origin of the call. Would you answer the phone if the Caller ID said, "Scumbag Robophones"? Depending on how the call center is put together they may actually be using a collection of wireless accounts.
Measure insolation in an enclose environment with CO2 content x, and then measure it with CO2 content 2x. Every single time for over a century and a half the environment with the higher CO2 content retains more heat. High school honors students do the experiment, and that is always the result. Why do you think that for some reason carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is going to somehow defy the laws of physics and act differently?
Of course, and if we know the prevailing temperature we can set an upper bound on water content, but there is no direct measure of that like there is for carbon dioxide and methane, which we can pull directly from analysis of glacial bubbles.
As I have pointed out to you before, the whole "Global Cooling" was never an idea promoted by actual scientists, just reporters. A reporter at Time magazine accidentally learned what Milankovich Cycles were during a slow news month.
Since the amount of two of the three most powerful greenhouse gasses is at the highest level in the last million years (and we can't tell what prior levels of atmospheric H2O were), and those levels are completely attributable to human activity I think it's a pretty safe bet to say that YES, mankind is primarily responsible.
We have zero ability to even dream of a one on one combat situation with a traditional Chinese army.
OK, I'll bite . . . Why the hell would we even WANT to? Are you actually frightened that the Chinese are going to swim across the Pacific and invade? Or maybe they'll wander through Russia and build a bridge across the Bering Straight, marching through Alaska? Sorry, but the entire scenario of a direct China/US war is absurd, there isn't even any reason to pretend to prepare for such a thing.
Not sure why I'm bothering, except that I'm waiting for servers to rebuild and don't have anything better to do.
We see the washing away of western heritage and culture
Seriously? Western culture is taking over the world. Compare photos of any indigenous people anywhere in the world from 30 years ago and those same villages/towns today. Blue jeans and rock and roll rule the world today.
Brazilians take their fandom a bit too far.
They don't hold a candle to British soccer hooligans.
Zimbabwe? Know about its history?
Do you? An entirely artificial European construct with borders deliberately drawn to promote internal discord, with a series of leaders armed and financed by external governments and/or corporations.
It is the people themselves.
Yep, those brown people are to blame. Doesn't matter that they can't get a job because they have to write 'Holly Park' as their address on the job application, and I'm sure the fact that their teachers were so underpaid and overworked that they're barely literate has nothing to do with it either. Never mind that the police deliberately push the drug dealers out of the "better" neighborhoods and leave them alone there (where the residents of the "better" neighborhoods can easily find them to buy dope). Nope, it's all because they're not descended from white Europeans.
our children are not our children, that they belong to the state . . . This is no exaggeration.
Really? I can't even figure out WTF you're babbling about there, but it's not an exaggeration at least.
I was born in the 60s. I know a better time.
I was born in 1961. I remember my dad's coworker losing an eye, another a hand, and the company just firing them because they couldn't do their job any more. I remember the Cuyahoga River on fire. I remember hearing people applaud lynchings in the south. I remember WWII vets at my dad's foundry chasing Japanese techs out of the plant and out of town, when all they wanted to do was install a new lathe. I remember announcements on the radio that "The Gypsies are expected to arrive tomorrow morning, they will be escorted out of the county by the sheriff patrol by late afternoon." I remember Mexican cherry pickers who had to go to town with the farm owner to make sure they wouldn't be arrested. Ah, the good old days!
You forget, politics is run by lawyers, and lawyers think that passing a law (or in this case a treaty) will magically fix everything. My dad, a remodeler, actually had a lawyer tell him that almost all the houses destroyed by hurricanes and tornadoes could be saveed if the law required that houses be built with hurricane clips on the roof trusses. For a lot of these bozos the law is their religion, which is one of the reasons why groups like the Innocence Project run into so much obstructionism.
And hold in reserve a firmware update that will reconfigure the device in a few second. I suspect that this treaty, if the US bothers to even consider (much less sign, much less ratify) it, will be treated in much the same manner as the chemical weapons and biological weapons treaty. "We need to develop this capability to practice defending against it, but it's only for training purposes! Honest!"
I at least found this interesting because of the choice of US correspondents. Most senior citizens in the US haven't even met a Brazilian before, much less attempted to carry on a conversation with them. I think it's a wonderful idea.
Southerners will say that all Northerners are Yankees. Northerners will say that New Englanders are the Yankees. Call most New Englanders 'Yankee' and they'll tell you that only Vermonters are Yankees. And no one bothers to ask Vermonters their opinion on much of anything.
Had a friend who went through the training to be certified as an LPN in the '80s, wanting to improve the lives of the elderly. She worked in several of those places, never lasted more than a couple of months because conditions in all of them were so bad that she couldn't handle it. Eventually she got of of that line of work entirely and had taken to riding her motorcycle like a lunatic, probably out of a desire to not live long enough to ever end up in a nursing home.
Or maybe a night light.

Better idea. Keep the Hot Pockets in your freezer, then when you sell the freezer make sure they go with it. Bleah, nasty things . . .
An older thick-walled pot works better than the newer thin-walled ones too. Cast iron is best, cast aluminum next.
A word from the *Voice Of Experience* - Do not make popcorn when you're on acid unless there is a fire alarm nearby.

Very likely the inbreeding promoted by acceptance of the AKC standards also plays a part.
you should buy from a vendor that offers eternal support at a suitably expensive price.
We will. Enjoy your descent into the hell of the consumer market because commercial and industrial customers will abandon you immediately.

And the vast majority of Win CE devices aren't even hooked up to a network so good luck exploiting them.
Windows NT 3.51 Service Pack 3. 'Nuff said.

Not just "NO", but "NO FUCKING WAY, NO!"

Wonder how long it would take to arrive at the surface from that depth.

The problem in Syria is that it was our al Qaeda allies who used the chemical weapons. Whoops.

This is no troll...
No, it's an enormous collection of stupidity, ignorance and racism masquerading as 'rose colored glasses' nostalgia.
