    Police state; if you don't have enough control of your own life to decide to end it, you don't have control of your life.

    I don't see how a wireless lan makes our nation that much more a target for terrorism.

    It doesn't. Everything that a terrorist can do over WiFi, they can do from another country already.

    Doesn't really matter why its done, the end result is the same. He's signed up for stuff he never wanted, just like the rest of us.

    His lawsuit is claiming harrasment; so its ok if someone wants to give me a great deal on crap i don't want, but its not ok when people are trying to make a legitimate point? Frankly, i don't see the difference. If this is harrasment for him, then its harrasment for me.

    Must have been doing something wrong...seriously, i'm not trying to bash you. I've never had problems doing that, and i've also compiled my own dlls. It won't let you delete a dll in use, but thats about it. Altho that is pretty annoying too.

    Win98 wouldn't let me copy a .DLL to a floppy without dropping to a DOS prompt. Now I hear that WinXP is one big ad for other Microsoft services(I have no interest in a closer look).

    Ok, i'll admit windows isn't the best interface, but these are hardly statements of fact. You could right click on a DLL in win98 (or earlier) and pick send to floppy. The only 'advertisements' i've seen in xp is passport, when you start MSN messenger. I can't think of anything else really.

    Suspects are informed of their rights.

    I hope that suspects are made to understand them too, or it doesn't help much.

    They're provided legal representation if they can't afford any.

    Which is how many innocept people end up on death row; crappy legal representation is assigned.

    Criminal trials are decided on by juries of their peers.

    Unless, unfortunately, the jurors simply don't care. I've had people tell me how they were on juries where the other jurors literally slept through the trial. Not something you'd want happening if you were being charged with a captial offense you didn't commit.

    Of course, if the US is such a flagrant violator of human rights, I'm sure you'd feel much safer in Iran/China/etc...

    I guess you're right, the US is good enough, why bother trying to fix the few problems left?

    You're right, if you want to live, you should have to pay for it. If some homeless shelp gets run over by an SUV, why should I have to pay for his medical care? Its his own damn fault he's poor!

    Depending on the your jurisdiction, not all human rights are part of your local laws.

    Doesn't matter. You don't need a law to have a right, you have it reguardless. See also the 9th and 10th amendments.

    To make it on Death Row you have to kill one or more people violently and without remorse or reason or do some serious raping and assulting.

    Last time i checked, there were alot of people that had made it to death row without doing anything at all. At least 12 were freed. It raises the question of how many other innocent people there might be on death row.

    The other problem is the message the death penalty sends. Basically, its ok to kill if you're justified.

    As for Captial Punishment, in the US, the people think it is needed.

    I'm in the US, i don't think its needed. Plus, the majority of americans aren't intelligent enough to program their vcrs..

    Well all i know is that i don't have these problems in linux or win2k and xp. I kinda doubt its ram if i've had xp installed as long as 95, and xp doesn't crash every 5 seconds.

    Sound defense policy is always based on capability, not intention. You can't read the enemy's mind, so you have to act on what he could do if so inclined. Any student-- even an armchair student-- of military history can tell you this.

    So by that logic, and nations that consider the US thier enemy should be attacking, and they'd be perfectly justified.

    Is that how they did it? As in do you know for sure? I had been surmising that shutdown really does a hibernate. Both take about the same amount of time to power off, and startup again.

    I did everything i could to maintain win9x. I still suffered from crashes, and even with not installing / uninstalling programs it seemed like time would eventually make these OSes highly unstable. It wasn't until win2k that i found windows to be much more stable. Even then (and now, with xp) do i still experience the occasional crash.

    Probably. XP actually is much impoved over win2k. I actually like the layout changes they made and you can't beat the boot time. Downloading the powertools gives you alot more choice on how the OS behaves also. All in all, i have to say i like it alot.

    Thus more processor power is available for other things.

    You mean like complicated physics models? I think game makers will be putting in more complex models and AI, now that graphics is no longer a concern for the CPU. These added things however, will continue to demand LOTS of cpu power.

    Don't you think its possible that you're friends with someone doing something illegal and not know it? Should you be guilty just because you knew him?
