    So instead of making headway with sustainable renewable energy practices, some approaches would have us further harm our descendents future viability. Certainly, we don't think of a little harm here and there being a problem, but when totalled up, we are wreaking havoc by our excesses.

    Just last week, the Artic Council released its findings that show that people and animals living in the Arctic region are suffering quickly from ongoing global warming, with many species expected to go extinct. Prime farmland in other areas of the world will have altered rainfall patterns, turning much of them into lower yielding rangeland. The Western US is already struggling through 7 years of drought, further straining the falling aquifers, such as the Ogallala.

    Granted, a calculator wouldn't use as much fuel as the typical SUV, but simply adding more uses of fossil fuels (or those indirectly produced with fossil fuels) puts us deeper into the negative ramifications of those fuels.

    You've stated a conclusion without showing us the data points, assumptions, or calculations. Are we simply to take your word on it? What about people that make $30/hr? $100,000/yr? What increase to the deficit would their be? Or do we just ignore that?

    I've been using Mozilla for over a year at work and at home, and I've only run into 2 sites that were too dependent on MS to run on Mozilla. I rarely have a crash, and I can run on Windows or Mac.

    Most commercial solar panels are straight silicon. I have 50 on my roof (BP thin film), and they take little energy to make and recycle at 99%. This topic comes up sometimes from people trying to put out disinformation, which gets picked up by people who have been hoodwinked.

    Leave it to the Dutch to win this, when they have a large number of cities with carfree cores (close to 50!). They walk and bike much more than citizens of North American and are at the top compared to their European counterparts. http://www.carfree.com/carfree_places.html
