You can see the web pages at http://www.archive.org/. Just cut and paste any URL into the 'Wayback Machine' and you can see archived versions of the page.
I noticed on some pages (the Quarter Shrinking Theory page) the text is 'invisible' using Firebird, but you can read it by selecting the entire page (ex. ctrl-a) which highlights everything.
I've done this in the past with slashdotted sites and it seems to work most of the time.
Some folks have characterized code licensed under the GNU Public License as viral, yet it seems SCO is the real perpetrator of viral code. They claim Linux has been 'infected ' with their code. There's no cure because they won't identify any of their (alledged) code. All you can do is to cough up $$$ for a license.
The traffic light control system itself is called Opticom . It is patented and manufactured by 3M.
It operates using very short pulses of light (< 10uS) occuring at a precise frequency (usually crystal controlled). The normal pulse rate is about 10Hz. An optional rate of around 12.5Hz can be used to give priority to other vehicles (ex. ambulance vs firetruck).
The system is configurable and normally set to give a green light to the emergency vehicle (helping to clear traffic) but it can also be set to go red in all directions.
You can see the pics via www.archive.org...oh darn, just crashed another site!
