Go read a book or something. If you took the time to get on slashdot, you can surely read the essays that are on dozens of open source websites. You could even search postings about this in the little search box at the top of the page. You even ask a question addressing the concern of developers, for christsakes- serious question my ass!
Be careful how you word this stuff! "The World" was the first public internet service provider, located in Brookline MA. They're a good company- but after following the SCO craziness, such harmless mispeak gives me some pause.
Is it just me, or wouldn't make more sense to try to screen out smallpox? Doesn't anyone remember the terrorist threat? I mean, I don't think it would be really cost-effective or even very effective for either purpose- but they might as well pretend to be looking out for our best interests
