But then again, maybe I wouldn't challenge you because I don't want to spoil good beer.
That's a good point. Here in the UK we drink beer by the pint, in Europe you drink it by the 250ml glass. Our ale has traditionally been 3-4 percent alcohol, but recently the continental influence has meant that 5% is more normal and 6% is not uncommon. Combine that with the British tradition of gulping it down by the 568ml pint and you have a recipe for disaster. There's a lot to be said for sipping strong beer from a small glass but I do like a pint sometimes.

Speak for yourself, my first hangover was kindly sponsored by 8 bottles of Duvel (33cl).
8*33cl is about 4 1/2 imperial pints. Anyone drinking 8 pints of duvel is going to wake up in their own vomit :)

IMO, it's just that the English aren't as fussy about it and are happy with the (to the USians) lower quality food that is more generally available.
You've never been to a Taco Bell? I agree that it is very easy to find good quality food, cheap and plenty of it. My experience in California was similar to yours. However, when it's bad it's *really* bad, worse than anything I've ever had in the UK. Some of it makes fish and chips look like health food.

Nice troll, I'm a CPC fanboy. They're not trash, the graphics and sound were superior to the speccy. You can tell the difference in the games that were written for the CPC versus the games that were written for the speccy and ported to the CPC.

I hate to say it, but me too. It's got to the point that web page ads are as annoying as TV ads. You have adds flying around the screen and obscuring the content, gratuitous animation and sound. Frankly it's taking the piss, it's no wonder people use flashblock and adblock.

Althouth there are a few interesting tools I'd still like to see, how many more desktops apps are really needed? Most people's needs and desires are more than covered by a word processor, email client and web browser. Open Office and MS Office are already overloaded with features that almost nobody will ever use. There will always be a need for custom software for corporates, but that is typically client/server with the client side just being a web front-end. The browser covers that.
We don't need any more desktop apps! And 640k should be enough for anyone!

If drunken brawls are a problem, put more police on the streets near these bars.
It's not brawls, it's people getting "happy slapped" and gangs of low-lifes beating up innocent passers by for no reason - mindless, drunken violence. There are already a lot of police on the street around town and city centres at the weekend. They can't be everywhere at once, but the cameras catch incidents the police don't.
