The scientists understand the real colors, the public (who funds it, after all) expects it to be red. They want red, we'll give 'em red. I'm not saying I agree with that, but I understand where they're coming from.
Sure, Mars is red. We've seen plenty of images that have proven that time and time again. But I think that what the public would really rather see is an unaltered image of Mars. They want to see exactly what they would see if they were standing there with the camera in their hands. Not some altered photo. Nobody likes altered photos. Unless they're altered to highlight something that cannot (easily) be seen. Give me true photos of Mars!
The Secret Service handles all of it. They are not "in conjunction" with the Treasury Department, they are a part of it. While other parts of the treasury might assist in the preventative measures that are taken, the Secret Service handles all of the enforcement.
Come to think of it, there's nothing to stop somebody with one of these Hard drives
Come to think of it, this is nothing that I could not have done several years ago with my 20GB laptop. These USB drives are not a new threat in an environment where mobile computing is prominent. Not ALL of us use desktops. In fact, I don't have a single coworker who uses a desktop computer these days.
I think that the benefits of electric cars are in the cleaner air that they can provide for our cities. Sure, there's still dirty air out where the coal burners live. But that's another problem that needs solving.
These numbers certainly speak for themselves. The Opteron is faster, hands down. Heck, even the slower Opteron bested the G5 on tests 3 and 4. I'd like to see these same comparisons made with an Athlon 64, though, since it is a tiny bit different.
This is probably the best idea I've read in quite some time WRT bandwidth suckage. I am in total agreement that this would work out very nicely for the bandwidth bills of open source projects. Plus we'd get our downloads faster.:)
One reason we're still paying so much is that this stuff isn't commercially available yet. This was just the first trial. It will be a year or more before the carriers are even able to get this stuff, and then they still have to roll it out.
BT scales very well through a slashdotting. I've downloaded slashdotted files on BT at very near my max downstream bandwidth several times before. True, it's sort of weird to be downloading smallish files with BT, but hey, at least you can get the files.:)
I used to not care what batteries my camera used. But my new, tiny, 3mp Nikon uses either standard-sized lithium batteries or 2 AA batteries. Knowing that I can pick up a set of batteries virtually anywhere is priceless. I don't ever want a camera like my old Sony (with proprietary and quick-draining batteries) again.
$0.45 for package tracking from the USPS... sounds like it would have been worth it for you.
I think this was before the USPS offered the tracking service. If I was going to engage in this type of sales today, though, I'd certainly be tracking my packages.

Whether or not you have a satellite dish and receiver, the coverage is still available.
about the coverage: You can get Nasa TV anywhere in the US on satellite. That means that in the US, they ARE in most places.
It's not a competition against someone. It's a competition against the laws of nature.
If only the WiFi signal strength in that theater was decent. I can't ever get a connection there.

Hoser you rock! Thanks for the numbers! I can't wait to get my hands on one of those FX51s now!

Did somebody say whore? ;-)

If you really want your boss to understand the virtues, have him read this article, which gives an excellent breakdown.
This is why I love my Logitech MX700, which came with NiMH batteries and a charging cradle.
